Disappointed with 2016 Gibson

Re: Disappointed with 2016 Gibson

I'd take a custom 22 while not as pretty as a gibson I wouldn't say they're ugly.

What frustrates me is every two bit guitar maker in the world make a visual clone of a LP so why doesn't PRS just go out and make the best LP in the world & when gibson gets their panties in a twist all they have to do is pull out a cheap chinese burny & go 'what's yer fekin' problem?'
Especially since the 2009 Fender trademark decision set the precedent that the overall aesthetics of a guitar are not trademarkable (especially if you don't rigorously defend against infringement). PRS could make an exact copy except the feedstock and legally Gibson wouldn't have much to say given what Ibanez has been putting out for decades.

Re: Disappointed with 2016 Gibson

I'm confused. Obviously the original post was not a bout an LP Standard ....because as it was brought up it would have had nibs. Did I miss a post (I read the whole thread)....was it ever determined what guitar we are actually talking about. Because in fairness, if it were not a Standard then the whole thread might be meaningless. SO DID I MISS SOMETHING?

Re: Disappointed with 2016 Gibson

Well I just found out that indeed som enw Gibson LPs with fretboard bindings have the frets sitting on top of it.

I thought that was a joke you folks were playing on me.

They have been doing this since 2014 on certain models (like my Classic) and I believe all 2015 models that had neck binding were devoid of nibs..traditionals may be an exception.

As for the OP, if he did play a 2016 standard , it would have nibs.

I'd hit it.

Me too. I'd have to rob a few banks and probably do a few other things I wouldn't be proud of, but she's too sweet to pass up.
