I HATE Original Floyd Rose Trems! Aweful design.Thats what keeps me from buying a Charvel ( well, that and because i am broke).
If you try and palm mute with an OFR, your edge of your palm hits the fine tuners and knocks them out of tune.I HATE that!
Both my Jacksons have the Schaller JT-590..I think its a little better, but probably not much .
My favorite Floyd is the Takeuchi LoPro..the fine tuners are out of the way for aggressive palm mutes..i just need to put together a parts Jackson that can take advantage of this.

I have never had that problem. My hand is about an inch or inch and a half away from the fine tuners when I palm mute.

Same here. I've never had a problem.

I would love one of the older version non-recessed Floyds... :burnout:

I've never had that problem either.

The only thing I don't like about the San Dimas is that there's no pickguard so you can't stick single coils in 'em.

Yeah, admittedly I do prefer the SoCal for that reason.

My wrist always hits the fine tuners. I've been trying to find a way to modify the bridge so that could still have that feature but in a lower profile. I don't see how all you guys don't run into them?

My hand usually doesn't move very far from this position.

Adjust your technique and you will be fine.

I think the original Floyd design is fantastic, I don't have any of the issues you describe with mine.
