Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

My new guitar world had a big ad of them, and they're supposed to be hand-made affordable tube amps. I was just wondering if any of you guys know anything about them?

One word to describe them: cheap!

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

Distributed by Behringer and they're Peavey clones more or less. Never seen one anywhere to play it/hear it though :P

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

supposedly peavy was going to sue them over how close they are to clones, and the tubes in some have actually exploded. atleast thats what the guitarist in a band ive played with has said.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I have played through several of um and am impressed so far on the bang for the $. They are certanly not in the pure tone league with my custom shop high $ Prosonics but they sound pretty darned good for the $!!

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

hmm, Behringer is behind this little scheme huh? lol, that can sometimes be a good or bad thing. I like some of their cheap pedals, but i don't know if I'd spend "amp money" on something they've come up w/. thanks for the info dudes.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I've always heard Behringer stuff is hit or miss. Sometimes you get lucky like my drummer, he has had a Behringer power amp that he uses to run his monitors, he said he's had for quite a while now and never had any problems...then there are the stories of things exploding from Behringer. The only product I used was a 4x12 cab, I didn't have any problems with it, my Bass players old rig was also a Behringer rig and he never had any problems out of it. As far as the long haul though there's no telling, that power amp is the only thing still around and it's still going strong!

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

when i looked at the tubes in one, they say 'bugera' on them......

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I've used several Behringer products for some years now and they do their job for cheap. And some of their recording stuff is actually pretty good. Never ever had nothing that exploded or died on me either.

Bugera amps: Just give'em a couple of years to get their thing together and eventually they'll kick ass.

From what little I've read on them they supposedly really rock. They might be Behringer and let's not kid ourselves here, they're essentially Peavey clones, but they're supposed to be really good amps for the money.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I have read 10 times more bad reviews than good reviews. But, of course none of this is first hand information.

But, Peavey makes good amps for the price already, so I am not sure of the market need.

Have you looked at a Peavey Valveking or Windsor? Did something about them turn you off Donahue?

PS. There is a new Crate in the class of the above two amps, the V100H. You might check that one out.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

Yep, they are a Behringer in disguise.

Sound pretty good for the $$. Only problem is that some of the components are not up to par. They had issues with capacitors exploding as they couldn't handle the voltage.

As far as being hand made? It's all pc board construction made in China. Can't get a product made cheaper than that.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I was just noticing their ad in GP this morning.
6260 ---> 5150
6262 ---> 5150 II
333 ---> XXX

True Behringer style. Not only reverse engineering other products, but then naming their products and laying out their ads to mimic the products they're copying.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

As a graphic designer, and from a marketing standpoint, their advertisements are just really REALLY corny. It almost prevents me from taking them seriously at all.

Their ad: A half-naked, shirtless warrior-type dude, reaching to the heavens, with lightning bolts coming down from the sky, and a bugera amp appearing. Ugh. GAG. Are they aiming their marketing at the dungeons and dragons crowd? What's next, wolves and wizards and swords and crap?

Don't get me wrong. I'm a sucker for good advertising. But I'm also really skeptical about products with really BAD marketing too.

It almost seems a little 80's to me. Sometimes there was a thin line between the hair metal look and the Hyborean Age warrior look.

The ads that really turn my stomach are the ones for Behringer's mixers and studio gear. Their Xenyx mixers, blatantly ripping off Mackie's Onyx series mixers. And then the ads have goofy pics of Behringer "engineers", software techs, and "quality assurance" people, mimicking the "Mackoids" in the Mackie ads.

To me, these ads may as well just have large letters printed across the page saying "WE HAVE NOTHING USEFUL OF OUR OWN TO OFFER".

I agree 110%. I'm not even a marketing specialist/graphic designer at all and IMO there's all kinds of things wrong with that ad. Dated styling, corny/cheesy imagery, aimed at too narrow of a demographic, etc. If I had to buy an amp based on an ad I think that would be the LAST one I'd want to buy.

Re: Do you guys know anything about these new Bugera Amps?

I don't dislike Behringer products, but if there's one company that's deserving of a long list of lawsuits, it's them.

I though Mackie sued them, but never heard anything about it. Peavey, Line 6, and Shure have all been ripped off by Behringer's Chinese clones.

I found this on another forum (I cannot take credit for it):

Monkey see, monkey do.

Is that a real B-52 ad? If so, OMG, Behringer can't even come up with an original idea for a guitar dude pose!

I'll bet the lightning in the background is an idea shamelessly stolen from some other company's ads too.
