Re: Do you like Ballbat necks?
Ditto. We played Walking on Sunshine last night, a la Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and playing power chords at the F (low E) and A# at that speed cramps my hand. I was using my MIJ Strat that has a very comfortable neck, though not very thick, and it's murder on my hand muscles.
Funny, I have that guitar and find it has a medium-sized neck. It's definitely not thin, but it's not a fatback either. The fretboard is wider than my Tele or Strat, so that may be contributing to making it feel bigger than the back actually is.
My Strat is deceptive like that, where it feels thicker than it is because of the way it sits deep into my hand (rounded shoulders).
My Squier Tele has the thickest neck of my guitars. It's not huge, but near the nut it feels very thick because the fretboard is thinner there, but just as deep as higher up on the neck, where it feels a bit thinner, but the fretboard is wider. An excellent feeling neck.
My 335 is a 60's slim. Strangely comfortable, depending on what I'm playing.
The thickest neck I've played was a Gibson Les Paul Studio - one of the newer ones from this year that was chambered and had a flat finish. The neck didn't have a lot of finish on it, so you could feel the grain. It was a baseball bat for sure. I loved it. I would have grabbed that, but found my '91 335 Studio and it was no contest.
Exactly. ... wait, were you talking about guitar necks? Well, either way
I prefer fatter necks. I don't have the biggest hands but I'm an undisciplined rock player and thin necks make me cramp.

considering I am a tiny woman with tiny hands...Nope not really. I loved the graphics of the zakk wylde camo with a maple neck and fretboard but once I played it. No way. It felt horrid in my hands. i prefer a d shaped neck or a 60's slim neck.

The fatter the better for me but the shape has to be right too
