Do you like Floyds?

I love them~! I think some people are turned off by Floyds because they don't know how to set them up properly. If you know how to do a good Floyd setup, the things stay in tune so perfectly, even under dive-bomb galore~! :)
Heh, I just wanted to share my new love for this Kahler Spyder. It is just...the best~!

Re: Do you like Floyds?

I don't although I do use mine a lot lately. Why? Dunno, it's fun I guess, when your guitar is equipped with one of those things you tend to use 'em :). I'd rather have a TOM-string-thru bridge though I like sustain and lots of it

Re: Do you like Floyds?

I like the way they stay in tune. I prefer the way a vintage Fender Strat tremolo sounds though. Lew

I've got a floyd, an wanna be floyd and a strat trem on different guitars. I like 'em all. Either I'm real lucky, or have alot of patience because none of these trems have ever given me a problem. A hear alot of people complain about them not staying in tune and stuff, but none of my trems ever go out of tune on dive bombs, bends etc. Even the cheap FR 'licesened' trem on my KH502 stays in tune perfectly.

I can't live without FR-systems! My favorite is the Lo-Pro Edge by Ibanez, but i completely HATE the new versions Edge Pro and Edge Pro II, just can't forgive Ibanez for this rediculous change, especially since the Lo-Pro Edge became inavailable...

Original Floyd Rose.
Accept no substitutes.

Looks like someone has been looking at the old VH/FR ad!

Man I love your new avatar!

I want one, and like em...but in a mahogany body it would be beautiful.

MAYBE........if someone would give me his Rivera!!! My Z doesn't take well to that combo. :)

I'm generally a hardtail man. Never really got into the whole wammy bar thing. If I use it it's more of a tremolo effect.

+1.

Love the PRS and Wilkinson trems too...stability of the Floyd...more fenderlike sound and response.

Re: Do you like Floyds?

I'm skilled enough with my setup chops to know how to perfectly set up and balance a Floyd. I have a genuine OFR on my MIA Strat and boy howdy you can bury the bar on that thing to China and back and it'll come back in tune, always. I have to tune it maybe twice in a 3-hour session. I think the quality of the bridge always helps too. i could never get the Lo-TRSII on my Ibanez to behave (thing sucked anyway) but the Floyd is a DREAM to work with.

I love Floyds for the expressiveness they can add to your vocabulary when used properly. I will always prefer fixed bridges for raw tone (or when I'm not in a floyd-y mood) but if you're gonna have a trem, a Floyd it must be then.

Re: Do you like Floyds?

I have a Spyder on my Strat. Kick ass bridge, but a pain in the ass to find parts for.

Re: Do you like Floyds?

I'm real curious about Floyd Roses new line of guitars. They have a tiangle of open space in the headstock because they don't require tuners. They're speed loading for fast string changes. They have 2 lines, expensive and cheap. I saw the cheap ones, like $450, at Guitar Center in Hollywood. Think I'll give them a try. Not Joe Perry, but the other guy in Aerosmith, plays one on their latest DVD, I think it's called Honking on Bobo. It's a great DVD, too.

They have em in the GC around the corner from my office.
For that kind of money, I'll take a custom shop Strat any day of the week.

Re: Do you like Floyds?

i like vintage strat trems, i have schaller locking tuners on my strat so it seldom goes out of tune if you invest in nut grease.
