I know I would like to see some B.C.Rich guitars and I am sure there are others as well. lets see them and tell us a bit about them.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I dont currently own one... Did a couple of years ago. Back in the hair days, I wanted all the BIG guitars of the era, Charvel, Kramer, BC rich. The reissue gunslingers really grabbed my attention and were great players at a low price. I bought 2.. Also has a US made one built by Grover J. I had to sell em all tho due to family needs.. But here they are to start with some eye candy..

dont recall what pup I put in that one off top of my head.

This one got a big block on the trem and a Duncan Crazy 8:

The USA one:

Very nice really like the last one. They are unique guitars I can only imagine you must miss them very much.

I've owned 4, still own 1. The VJr Deluxe that I still rock plays like butter.
Neckthru, ebony board, emgs, original Floyd, it's balanced. Long scale, frets are polished, I love pretty much everything about it.
It's effortless to play and stays in tune for ever.

Nice guitar and another good feature is it stays tuned. More than I can say about Gibsons. :beerchug:

I've always loved the look of the Mockingbird. I've got a '78 American made deluxe, a 2010 Special X Goldtop, & a 2013 black Pro X.

The Pro X is my favorite, original Floyd with LP style controls.

I've never owned a BCR, but come close a few times. My younger brother owned 3 at one point; an '83 neck-thru NJ Eagle, an '86 neck-thru NJ Mockingbird, and a 90s MIJ set neck Mockingbird. The two NJs were excellent guitars; I found them quite similar to the USA ones I've played. The set neck Mockingbird was weird; it looked the part but played more like a Les Paul due to the neck angle. Don't have any pics unfortunately.

Just got my first one from my wife for Valentine's Day a couple of weeks ago. 2014 Perfect 10 Bich:

It's a 10-string (like a 12-string, but the low E and A aren't doubled). Neck through, 24 5/8" scale, Duncan Designed HB-102s (import JB/Jazz combo).

Plays and sounds great after a setup, and tuning stability has been good after a week of letting everything calm down after the setup. It's definitely not something for everything, but I'm currently working on finding the right songs so I can use it with the band.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I own a mid- late 80's NJ Eagle bass. The thing plays like butter. Neck though, has a few upgrades but the craftsmanship is amazing. When my friend bought it (he flips guitars to no end) I knew it had to be mine so I made him call me first...sure enough 3 weeks later it was mine.

What do I like about it? Great Japanese craftsmanship, solid neck, plays great, easy to setup, and sounds beastly with the right pickups in there.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I came close but when the time came to pick one out about 12 years ago it seemed that every one I tried had some sort of fret issue.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I've got a Mockingbird ST. The stock pups were terrible, and have been replaced (though it's currently missing a neck pup), but otherwise I think I got a decent amount of guitar for the money. Especially compared to others in the same price bracket :)

Think it'll stay with the chrome/black livery mind.

'78 Mockingbird. Joe Perry had one so I figured I had to have one too. :nono: Seriously, Kid of the '70's I am, and what a badass guitar to wanna have from that time. It fits with my Love of the "Explorer" body style.

It took me until '92 to get my first, this one. Traded a 1978 Ibanez Artist Doubleneck Custom and $50. The guy had to have "some" cash to do the deal. At the time equal value really but the Ibby is skyrocket priced now last I saw one like it. I'll still take this pointy beast. :headbang: It needs a little help in the wiring system. the on board pre amp/boost isn't working and Birdy is in my project area at the moment somewhat. Still works without that though and still has about a gazillion Tones. :7:

I have a 1980 Son of a Bich too that is an interesting guitar. I will look for a shot of that one.

Fun looking guitar. I have seen Joe Perry use his for Living On The Edge with the extra 4 strings and Walk This Way without the doubled strings. He has toured with it with and without those extra strings or even the tuners in. His newest has Red Crystal beads on the face. Can't wait to see the new book being produced about BC Rich guitars.

Shorthorn Mockingbirds are pretty rare; it wouldn't surprise me if it were worth a similar amount to the Ibanez Artist. From that pic it looks pretty clean and includes the original case, if it's slightly beat up. The knobs and switch aren't original, but Neal Moser has those parts if you want to restore it. He also sells replacement booster preamps for $50, booster varitone combo circuits for $100, or a fully wired Mockingbird electronics harness for $225.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I've always loved the looks of BC Rich guitars, but most of them seem to have 24 frets which I dislike. However, I found this 22 fret Mockingbird on Ebay about 12 years ago. It's a little cheapie, but it's still a really good guitar. It now has a Dimebucker/Alnico II Pro combination in it.

Re: Do you own a B.C.Rich Guitar? What do you like about it

I did own a BC Rich , it was the ubiquitous 1000.00 Korean guitar.
I liked everything about it except the terrible volume knob placement that interferes with the strumming or, how do you say, 'downsweep' of the picking hand..
Unplayable for me. Thats also why I change all my Jackson Mutts volume knobs to a different place also, but they are just parts assemblies anyway.
A stock Strat even is similar, it's annoying, but not that bad as a BC Rich or Jackson.'Anyway, for average skill /experience level players like you guys, it probably wouldn't be an issue, but for a pro level expert player like me, it sucks.

Anyway, I wouldn't ever want to carve up an expensive BC Rich, so pass.
