And yes the colour changes things.

I've never thought about this before, however as I have all rosewood-board guitars I have no excuse for the rubbish created by my clubby fingers!

Not so much unless it's maple and really if it is finished maple. I just can't seem to play them.

All things that has a tonal impact influence my playing, and IMO the board has a big tonal impact. (relatively-speaking)

As for the board's color or inlays affecting my playing?; No not at all.
I only look at the side-marker dots. Looking at the board itself always resulted in hanging my head over in bad posture. About 12 years ago I intentionally started buying guitars with blank boards (no inlays). It didn't take long to adapt, and overall it's been a big help to my already kranked neck and to my comfort level when switching between different models.

Is there an advantage from maple to rosewood? Or any other material for that matter. Yes, I'm a noob.

Damn right!

If your bassist is too much of a burnout to remember the songs, make SURE that your rhythm guitarist:

1) plays rosewood if white or pale asian
2) plays maple if black or brown
