Does your guitar have a name?

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Nah.

I get emotionally attached to them, but I don't think it's ever occurred to me to name one.

I dunno... I've never named a car, either.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

I have only named one guitar ever-

Mjöllnir (it means "Thor's Hammer") and this one is the hammer of the Gods.

It is the standard by which all other Les Pauls get judged, I've been through a least 100 of them in the last 13 years trying to find one that feels and plays as well.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

WOW! No kidding! That's a beautiful instrument... even distracts the eye from that horrible bedspread!

My tele is named Icarus. My old Epi SG was called Grace. My strat has gotten a new body and changed personalities, so that one is yet to be renamed, and the new LP hasn't gotten a name just yet either.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

My custom made Les Paul (copy) has an inlaid eagle & flames on it, and the first time my guitar guy saw it he called it "The Screamin Chicken" so thats what I call it. Lol

It's the only one I would name. It's been there in good times and bad. It's purred and yelled. I've been listening to what it has to say much more often since I changed the tuners, guard, and played with the pickups. It's like it used to have a speech impediment, and now it speaks loud and clear. we're going on 6 years. feels like 60. don't know what to call it, but it's safe to say this is one of the guitars I most love, even though it's just a mexican Standard.

"Vieja"

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

In response to this thread, I've decided to name my guitars after all. The names are

Pants

Guitar

Monstertruck

That One Over There, and

Terrance Madison Hortique Trenchant Esq.

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Only one of my guitars has a name; my very first guitar, a Yamaha FG-200 acoustic with mahogany back and sides. The name is Amoreena after an Elton John song of the same name which has a lyric that makes reference to the "brown of your body."

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

I name every one of my guitars. When I decide to keep a guitar, naming it is like welcoming it into the family. I name them female names, usually a reference to a song or book/movie character...

Clarisse
Jasmine
Charlotte
Shelley
Gladys
Helena
Vera
Eliza
Leslie
Eleanor
Rita
Daisy
Penelope

Re: Does your guitar have a name?

Only one of my guitars has a name.

The guitar on the far left is named "Bacon."

Appropriate.

Although I don't call my guitars their name(s) out loud, the LP is Ophelia.

I'm still wondering what to name the others, should get on that ;)
