Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

But the trademark only applies in the USA right?
If I were to order one double cream bucker from SD, there won't be a problem?

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

You have to order double creams with covers on them and then remove them. They are lightly attached. Its a floor shop custom order.

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

I wonder if I'd have the legal right to buy hundreds of used zebra pickups, then sell double creams at the retail price? And while I'm at it, use all the black coils to create hybrids, which I could also sell at retail. :scratchch

I'm gonna be RICH I tell ya!!! :bling:

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Can you buy cheap used double cream pickups and get them rewound? Because then SD is just doing a service on a preexisting pickup that you sent in.

If so, and this is the only thing keeping you from putting together your dream guitar, you might as well just dish out the $35 and get your custom made double cream buckers.

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Seth Lovers are cream.

Good point, Clint. Never know what one may find from some companies when the covers are removed. Considering how many cream a company might have to buy to get a good deal just to be able to sell zebra, it stands to reason the random double cream slips out beneath a cover. They are technically being sold as having covers after all, right?

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Yep. I guess I lucked out and both my Antiquity neck and Seth Lover bridge were double cream under the cover.

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Get a zebra and reverse zebra then swap coils. My double creme Antiquity/Seth hybrid is currently my best neck pickup.

That's an excellent option. If someone buys them pre-owned, they can swap the bobbins and might probably sell the new double black pickup for what they paid for it.

It's also a good idea to do that to a pre-owned set, as removing the covers might void the warranty on a new product with some brands.... as does swapping coils and rolling magnets.

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

From five Seth sets, I only got one zebra.

I must be very unlucky... ;)

Re: Double Cream not allowed anymore?

Obviously double black, Lee. ;)
