Double cream trademark latest

would be great too if we can order the return of parchment white or some variation white vintage like porcelan white , ivory . its a good ideia ?

The current proposal is for a set of Parallel Axis pickups in double-cream. This will require a special bobbin production run from Seymour Duncan. Demand for other off-white colors is likely to be much lower and we would be asking more from SD to create additional colors when the goal is to make the project as easy as possible for them. That said, a black-creme "Zebra" option might be possible if SD ends up casting the cream PA bobbins for us.

Just for the record, I’d be a buyer of either the double cream or zebra option.
Not sure if I’m in for the set but def for one. I suppose it depends on which variation they make. I think I’d be most interested one on the higher output side. I typically like bridge pickups around the 14k area. ( not sure which one that is. )

I agree with you and would buy a parallel shaft in double cream

What I find is that the PATB3 feels way hotter but with all the openness and air of a PAF and the PATB1 feels way cleaner than what you'd expect.

I have a PATB1/2 hybrid alnico8 and I regret getting that mag. I want to install an A5 one day to get rid of that obnoxious midrange, hehe.

PATB3-A3 is also an amazing pickup and as a neck pickup, it smokes too!

Totally agree with your points on both the PATB-1 and 3...

The PATB-3 is one of the best "hot PAF" type pickups you can buy anywhere. Perfect output, nice midrange grunt, and clear without being piercing.

If the PATB-1 came out today, you'd see tons of modern technical metal/progressive/fusion rock players using it. It's sort of like an underwound JB, leveling out the mids and opening up the sound, without adding back too much brightness or brittleness. Truly a do-it-all kind of pickup.

Fingers crossed that SD will still want to work with us in a few months after they get caught up with their regular production stuff

Funny…on paper it looks like the PATB1 is what I would prefer but from what you guys are saying…maybe the 3 is the one for me. Lol

The PATB-1 is higher output than the "3", but the character is very different.

The "1" is more even throughout the mids than a JB and less scooped sounding than a C5 can be. It's a really balanced, fairly smooth-sounding pickup with nice clarity, but still has some of that high-output compression going on with JB-like lead and harmonic qualities. I like to think that if Bill Lawrence were around to redesign the JB, he would have come up with the PATB-1.

That said, if you haven't tried the PATB-3, you might be truly surprised. While it isn't a "distortion" class pickup, it's no wuss and its midrange push gives it a nice attitude when driven. Turn the gain up on your amp and it can come across more aggressive than the output would suggest. I'm a fan of pickups like the JB, Distortion, Black Winter, etc. and I find the PATB-3 quite enjoyable.

Since we're on the PATB topic, I will just round it out by saying that the PATB-2 is one of the hottest pickups you can buy. Pretty much X2N territory, but arguably better sounding. If the thought of a clean tone makes you angry, you should check it out!

+1 on the PATB-3! Spectacular dark horse in the hot-PAF category.
Never considered mag swapping for it, but I have absolutely no doubt that with an A3 it'd be awesome at the neck.

I'm another who'd be pumped if the PATBs bobbins were available in cream.

The PATB3 is IMHO the best parallel axis because it seems to be such a unique pickup with a unique character, as if the #3 makes most of the unique polepiece and coil structure. I'd get that pickup to begin with, no contest. The others sound a bit too 80ies for my taste, the #3 is just perfect.

It is very funny that one of the first seymour models is in an original vintage double white. Jb da telegib by jeff beck built in 1974. the set was zebra on the arm and white on the bridge. seymour never registered any marks and sued anyone

Earlier in the thread Evan posted that they did/or thought about getting involved in the litigation but had to drop for cost reasons.

Well, here is the latest from me on Double Cream:

Ordered these. Of course, they will need a rewind one of these days....

This seems like a legit option!

I consider myself fortunate to have a Custom Trembucker, Jazz neck, set of Antiquities and a Custom (thanks to TattooedCarrot for the Ants and SH-5 Custom) all in double creme. If I should need anything else, I plan to buy a Zebra & Reverse Zebra and then make my own double creme.
