Dream Guitar

Re: Dream Guitar

I've always wanted a black/gold les paul but my SG is pretty close to being perfect too

Re: Dream Guitar

Yeah, its really expensive...but SOOOOO awesome! Has a roasted neck for sure and I think one of his also has a roasted body as well?

I could see doing it through Musikraft as they offer both roasted body and necks...unfortunately Warmoth doesn't do roasted bodies (I've asked a couple of times.)

EDIT: According to this listing it has a roasted basswood body.

7 lbs. 5 oz.
Natural Matte Finish
Roasted Basswood Body
Flame Maple Top
Bolt-On Roasted Flame Maple Neck
Thin "C" Profile
Contoured Neck Heel
24 Extra Jumbo Stainless Steel Frets
Compound 12-16" Fretboard Radius
25.5" Scale Length; 1.68" Neck Width at Nut
.810" Neck Profile at Nut
.870" Neck Profile at 12th Fret
Charvel Custom-Wound MFB Humbucker Pickups (Neck and Bridge) and Single-Coil Middle Pickup
Charvel Recessed Tremol-No Bridge with Oversized Brass Block
Volume and Tone Controls with Five-Way Selector Switch
Bone Nut
Sperzel Locking Tuners
Recessed Neck Attachment Neck Ferrules
Non-Roasted Maple Position Markers with Ebony Accents
Low Friction Pots with Knurled Dome Knobs
Chrome Hardware

I make a guitar with almost the exact same specs, but for 1/3 of the price. Roasted neck? Check. Roasted body? Check. Epic set of pickups? Check. Locking bridge with open nut + locking tuners? Check. Charvel + GG name on headstock? Sorry. ;)

On topic: I already have my dream guitars.

Re: Dream Guitar

I still want one of these:

Except I would prefer the regular Factor model (not Ex-Factor) that doesn't have the drop-D lever and is a full 34" scale length. Also in a natural wood finish, not painted.

Re: Dream Guitar

I have the more ornate DynaSonic version of this, but I think I'd love this model (sans the Bigsby):

Re: Dream Guitar

Well, as long as we are dreaming...
1982GibsonHowardRobertsFusion080.jpg

It is an early 80s Gibson Howard Roberts. I had one made in the 90s but they had redesigned it by then, and it sounded pretty awful so I sold it.

Re: Dream Guitar

Never really played alot of guitars before, but i did once try a Vigier Excalibur..... fantastic guitar to play.
Would really love to have one but the price is way outta budget for a hobby musician.

Re: Dream Guitar

I like the Stephen Carptener seven strings now. Was never a fan of that pickup combo in the first run, even if they were SD's.

I did have an SC-207 but I quickly figured out that I can't play 7 strings. I can barely play 6 strings. Anywho, 7 strings are a bit too wide. But regardless, the Carpenter 6 strings were awesome, even with the pickup combo.

Re: Dream Guitar

A B.C. Rich (Speed) V, Ironbird, or Bich in some type of black with:

24 3/4 scale, tune-o-matic (and string-thru) or quadmatic bridge, and diamond inlays. Not sure if I want Active or Passive pickups. Maybe single master volume and master tone knobs.

Not quite sure about wood combinations. Have to research it a little more because it's not always so obvious.

Too bad it's all just a dream... for now.

Re: Dream Guitar

What's that one guitar you most aspire for? Been looking at some Ormsby and Knaggs recently, though not quite enough $ to get one right now.
Have you had a chance to play either? Only reason I ask is that for almost 10 years an Ormsby was at the top of my list, and then I was lucky enough to play several and as nice as they were, the necks didn't feel right for me. It's such a unique thing, and this is in no way a negative comment, just a personal feel thing.
I have never played a knaggs, but I think they would definitely be worth a look.

This is what makes things difficult.. I have had several "dream guitars" over the years, but I wonder if I would really gel with them? For many years I wanted a US Jackson Soloist, but I was lucky enough to play a couple of Jacksons to realize the necks are alittle wider than I prefer.

Re: Dream Guitar

I don't even need to think twice . . . a Benedetto "Benny": (The epitome of simple and clean.)

I just can't swing $5k for an axe right now. The good news is, the Benedetto A6 pups can be had for a reasonable price. I'll have a pair of those long before I ever have that guitar. ;)
