keepin it simple but sweet here.....

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

Any of you old metalheads who might remember that stage that Judas Priest had for the Screamin' for Vengeance tour, would remember like 50 Marshall stacks on two tiers. Now, I know they were all for show... but I might like to hear that puppy crank'd up just once in my life.

I'd take that along I guess.

2 Parker Fly Classics (white with EMG's, black with EMG's)
2 Gibson SG Standard (both black with EMG's)
1 VHT Pittbull Ultra-Lead
1 Marshall DSL 100
4 Marshall TV cabs

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

wow i can see how some people like to keep it simple but some go all out! Some of you have mre than 10 guitars or so! Just give me a gibson les paul and im good to go with a marshall amp

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

I got you all beat...
A guitar, cord, and a laptop with lots of plugins and soft synths. Guitarists and synthesists have already started doing this. I have tried a system like this and it sounds amazing. And it fits in a suitcase.

Jesus Boy.....What venue are you playin?.....Everything West of the Rockies?
That's 14 amps and 24 4-12 cab! That's only nice and simple for Yngwie! :laugh2:

Hehehe...I couldn't hear for 2 days after I saw Yngwie in Houston last month...Jeez like 6 stacks in a really small venue.

Anyhow, my dream rig...

Amps:
Marshall Plexi {dimed} for rhythm channel, panned L in stereo mix.
Marshall JCM 800 for rhythm channel, panned R in stereo mix.

Soldano SLO for solos.

The above rhythm go to one 4x12 cab each, the SLO goes into 2 4x12 cabs.

Fender Deluxe and Fender Twin combos {on together} for cleans.

Effects:
Boss Digital Delay x2 one for slap-back, one for echo.
Boss Chorus {to be used very minimally for cleans}.

Guitars:
Peavey Wolfgang with stock pups for the heavy stuff.
Fender Strat-S/S/H-Ash body {HRn-standard stratm-JBb}.
Fender Tele stock.

Pretty simple...but very effective!

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

...I can go nuts? Well...you asked for it! Straight off the top of my head, my insane dream rig (we're talking HUGE venues here) would be:
Guitars: Fender Squier Strat (my current axe) and a Fender 'Splattercaster' Strat in blue, both loaded with Seymour Duncan Cool Rails pickups. Then, my signal chain:
Boss TU-2 Tuner > Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster > ElectroHarmonix Small Stone Phaser > Keeley Modded Dunlop Crybaby Wah > Keeley Compressor > Keeley True Bypass Looper (in loop: Boss GE-7 Graphic Equalizer #1 > ElectroHarmonix Double Muff Fuzz #1 > EHX Double Muff #2 > Boss GE-7 #2 > Boss NS-2 Noise Gate) > (after looper) EHX The Wiggler > Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble (stereo out) >> Boss DD-6 Digital Delay (stereo out) >> (left stereo) EHX Holy Grail Reverb #1 > Radial JD7 Injector #1 >>>>>>> 6 individual Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10's, all stacked up pyramid style (3 on bottom row, 2 middle row, 1 top row) + 1 solitary Hot Rod DeVille 410 used as left stereo stage monitor. (right stereo) EHX Holy Grail #2 > Radial JD7 #2 >>>>>>> 6 Fender Hot Rod 410's pyramid stacked + 1 used for right stereo stage monitor

Strings: Ernie Ball Slinky's, heaviest friggin' gauge I can find 'em in!
Cables: Either Planet Waves or Goerge L's, all gold plugs.
Guitar Hardware: Satin Chrome
...yes, I'm insane! Lol! :laugh2:
xoxoxo

HUGE MIDI BOARD for each amp
i think thats enough for my rig[/QUOTE]

Actually, you'd only need a small midi board to control all of the amps...thats what midi does..

Gibson SG standard (white, 59b,59n)

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

I can't wait to hear Lew's setup! I'm thinking 4 '59 Bassman 4-10's,
with 4 65 Deluxe Reverbs, split in half, stereo. :newangel: :32:

Re: Dream Rigs, Arena Style

Well not dreaming, but simply what I use....

'81 Ibanez DestroyerII
'82 Ibanez DestroyerII
'84 Ibanez DestroyerII
'89 Gibson Explorer
'92 Takamine Acoustic (beat, but works)
'?? Takamine Classical

'89 Marshall JCM800 2210
'85 Marshall JCM800 2210 (heavily modded)
'83 Marshall JCM800 2205 (acoustic amp, believe it or not!)

My footswitch which selects channel, reverb, chorus, volume boost and even the pickups in my guitar..(definitely one off, but it works flawlessly)

...depending on the gig.. up to 2 full stacks..1960A and B's w/ G12t75's
..realistically, the only time all this gear gets dragged out is at the big outdoor gigs, and yes, it's mostly for show.....but it is COOL!!

Got an annual outdoor festival coming up this month, last year was about 38,000 in attendance and Foghat and Jackyl (i didn't even know they were still around) were headliners for Thu. and Sat. and we opened for Freddie Everett on Fri. nght....i got some really great pix from the stage......just a sea of people...

Other than that, I really can't think of anything else..except maybe a Leslie..
