Drummer bait, UNMIXED track from The Nescient EP

Here's an unmixed (or, rather, roughly mixed) track from my band's upcoming EP. I'm gonna put this one up on the myspace page as drummer bait, as we just let go of our current drummer.

Lemmie know what ya'll think...butttttt, be aware that I know that the mix sucks . Still working on the vocals, so they're not on there yet.

This is by far our most progressive song. First solo is mine, second solo is Ryan's...our crayyzzzeeeee freakin lead guitarist. Cleans and acoustics are all mine, I'm on the left side with a PRS Singlecut with a JB in the bridge. Ryan's on the right side with an Ibanez RG with an Evolution in the bridge. Both are through my Mesa Boogie Mark IV, and I've got both the Palmer PDI-09 direct track there as well as my Marshall MF400 cab miced up with an SM57.

Sweet riffs and chord changes, love the arpeggios. Get some vocals on there.

Gracias . Methinks once the vox are done and it's all mixed properly it's gonna rock pretty hard.

Got the ad up on craigslist, no calls yet. Dammit, I need a kickass drummer, pronto!

cool! natural sounding rhythm gits.

[might be a bit cymbal/overhead heavy, can't really tell through laptop speakers very well, but like you said, mix in progress].

hmm, Ive heard this song...I did nt listen to the full new version - you put background guitars in? Good luck w the vox and mix and drummer, Im sure you'll get there with more gigs and whatnot

Aye, but please, ya'll, if ya listen to it, please listen to the whole thing. It's meant to be taken as a whole...I spent about a year putting this song together...more than that really. It's not a song that's going to redefine a genre, or make enormous waves in musical history, but it's a very personal song.

This is the sound of what it's like to be inside my head. Only i wish it were produced better. But that'll come in time.

wow some gorgeous tones going on there

my biggest obstacle as a guitarist is getting good tones for mellow lead playing, so kudos to whoever that was! i've got the nuance of a cave man beating a cave wall with the skull of a prehistoric giraffe

Guilty as charged. From the repeated dirty/clean/dirty parts to my Mikael-Akerfeldt-with-two-broken-fingers guitar solo. Luckily Ryan comes in with his solo later on in the song and saves our asses with his face melter .

If I had my way I'd make the song even longer...draw out a couple of sections in the middle a bit more.

Our fourmbro Virtual Kevorkian is gonna be programming a new drum track for this one soon...ish. I'm wayyyy not happy with the way the original drumtracks are. But that guy's not in the band anymore, so that opens doors for instrument replacement .

The dude we were trying out, the crazy good drummer, that guy didn't work out. Guess he wasn't diggin the music so much, or was too busy, eh, I dunno. Gonna be trying out a new guy on Monday...so fingers crossed for that.
