DT25 head on order

Re: DT25 head on order

Well it just landed, going to let it get to room temp before I fire it up.

Picked up a Jet City 1x12S cab for peanuts today to run it thru.

Re: DT25 head on order

Of the 30 amps, how many can be used to płay Kvlt Black Metal?

Thank you.

Re: DT25 head on order

Spent about 6 hours playing with the amp today finally. At frst I wasn't so wild about it but once I hooked up the HD board I was sold.

Still need to get a USB to MIDI cable to do the amp firmware update, should have it this week. Just some stellar tones once you get passed all the presets.

Re: DT25 head on order

When you hook up the HD500, is it basically like the amp is serving as a good tube power section, or is it more sophisticated than that?

Re: DT25 head on order

I am also curious as to how much of the amp's tones comes from the modeling versus the amp itself, as it reads like you were not impressed with the amp as a stand-alone unit without the modeling. (Would also love to see a block diagram of the signal flow/processing; is this in the manual?) Not that it matters in the end, as long as it delivers what you want, but I am curious from a nerdular standpoint. :)

Re: DT25 head on order

Part of the reason I think I was so-so is the speaker in the JC cab, it's a little odd for my ears. With the low volume setting it worked fine but I wasn't feeling it when the power tubes where in the mix for some reason? I am not entirely sure but do PT's have to burn in a bit? The whole thing just sounds better now but I am using the master vs channel volume a little differently and bringing the PT's in to the mix way more.

The bigger part of my indifference was the models I could choose from. Stock firmware only gives you 4 to choose from which are fine but not exactly my faves except for the Vox setting. I don't really like Mesa's, the Park 75 is pretty good but it needs to be loud (just like a real Plex), and the Fender was too "every Fender in one", at least with this speaker. Once you can get in and bring up a straight up AC30, a Deluxe, Oahu, Gibson 185, DR.Z et al and configure them the way they’re supposed to be this thing is golden. Takes a while, I spent a lot of time dialing in the AC30 with verb and trem and deciding which fuzz model to use but it's real close. Needs band rehearsal to finish up that patch but like I said real close. I did find a Line 6 amp patch called "Epic" that is absolutely outstanding, have to find out more about this one, it is their own brew and should be available out of the box. I guess once they start shipping with the new firmware it will be. I hope they come up with a software interface to program it as opposed to having to use straight MIDI numerical settings at some point, which would be nice.

Once I get the new firmware and the amps are in the box I am curious how I will feel about it standalone. I did see a flow chart maybe it was in the manual but I am pretty sure it was online. Maybe on sixstring samurai's site? I need to set up an area at the house to record some samples, well just to record period as the Devils are gearing up for that again.

There are so many patches to store I am using some of my straight HD500 patches and converting them for use with the DT and saving them in a separate bank with a _DT prefix so I can tell them apart once I get everything squared up and ready to use.

btw it shipped with (2) EH EL84's & (1) no name 12AX7

This might give you some of the info you're talking about.

Got my USB/Midi controller and it doesn't work with this amp -_- Not happy Line6 needs to be a little more pro-active in letting customers know what will Vs. what won't work and what they will support. A little pissed but I'll get over it, sort of like getting **** drivers with a video card I guess. I like Line 6 but I can totally sympathize will folks who get more than a littel frustrated with them.

Amp sounds great though, dropped the WGS Reaper in the JC cab and I like it. It is a little grainier than the G12H-30 which it supposedly copies, at least to my ear.
