Dual Rectifier For Me?

nice price on them.

I'm curious however as how each you personally get over the clean / lead dilema? Pedal to get cruch on the clean and then use the lead for lead?

I'm not really worried about power, if anything I want less then 100watts and if i got the recto i was strongly considering an attenuator. 50watts is good for me, and I would be considering the single recto if it had 3 channels. Actaully it is sort of one up on the dsl because it has two channels and a solo boost on either, if I remember.

I good way to "price check" .. and to find out what people are actually paying for that amp on the used market, is to go over to e-bay and do a search in completed items..

well, the 2nd mode on the clean channel, the crunch mode's highest gain is similar to the ultra gain channel's lead 1's low gain settings, so I either use the low gain on 2nd channel & the first for cleans, or if I'm using the 1st channel for dirty sounds, I just clean it up with my volume knob. But if Marshall would make the DSL with a footswitch that switches between the 2 modes on each channel, then it would be a really really super great amp.
 
I think I could mod one in but it would be pretty messy, all you do is take the two leads from each switch, and rout them out of the amp to a foot switch. However that would defintely void any warrenty them amp would have, would a little bit on the rat nest side, and lower the value of the amp.
 
There is but it only lets you select between two of the channels, but each channel has two modes. So if you could change the two mods from the footswitch, even more versatility at your toes.
 
Hmm that would become annoying after a while, having extra options that aren't footswitchable. I'm more of a mesa kinda guy but I heard so many good things about the DSL series. How heavy do they get? I alwasy see Mesa's as bass heavy (wich is good in my book) and Marshall's as trebly (not ice picky).
Is that safe to assume? Mesa cleans are probably better than Marshall cleans too.
 
The DSL gets really heavy. I dont think of marshalls as trebly, I think of them as midrange-y. The mesa cleans probably are better though.
 
I had the Dual Rect and now have the Single Rect and this Solo 50 is so much more than the DR. Very versatile and the cleans are the best I ever heard. I tried the DSL and TSL and did not like anything about their toneless sounds. I can also get a plexi out of my Solo 50 with the clean channel in the pushed mode, gain nearly maxed. That there is VH1 territory!

So what did you not like about the Dual Rectifier? What's better about the single rectifier? (exept for the price difference)

It has more drive for metal, more tight and focused, and I can get those tones at bedroom level. Also, the cleans blew me away when I first tried it. The DR is good but doesn`t get good until you really crank it. BTW, I tried it in the 50w by pulling tubes but it sounded worst, it lost all its tone.

Thats because the output transformer is expecting that there would be 100watts of power tubes there.

Would a dual recto be comparable to a single tone wise if I got an attenuator?
 
They triple I think would be two much, right now I'm down to dsl50 or if a mesa, a single, or maybe a dual.
