Ear candy Soverign 1X12 (and other 1X12 cabs)

I've been thinking of picking up an ear candy 1X12 recently so I can mic it up and start using my KRANK for layin down some tracks. Just wondering if anybody has any experience with 'em. I've heard some pretty good things about them...and I'd much rather get a smaller cabinet for home use since my mom's gonna be around most of the time to yell at me if things get too loud .

Or, if you have any experience with 1X12's in a similar price range, feel free to share.

well you'd need a 100W speaker for the Krank since you'd probably fry lower wattages. Also lower wattage speaker have more mojo than the higher ones imo(vintage 30s are so nice). Maybe you'd be better of with a nice 2x12 instead of 1x12 with high-wattage speakers

Yeah, that is true, Kranky.

V30's are THE BEST speaker for recording extreme metal, as far as I and most other guys are concerned (Colin Richardson, Andy Sneap, Neil Kernon, James Murphy, etc..), but the 1x12 won't quite handle it, unless you pull two powertubes from the KRANK and half the impedance .

Well, this isnt necessarily somthing that I'll be using for gigging anything else for that matter...Its gonna be a stay-at-home cab for Mic'ing up and recording. Doesn't need to be somthing that'll handle my KRANK to its full capacity. I was lookin into an eminence speaker anyways...I got em in my mesa 4X12 and I'm real happy with them, and those have a little higher handling capacity, round 75 watts RMS.

Also, the way I understand it, when you're pumpin more into a speaker than it can handle, you get a real unplesant sound from said speaker...so there's no reason why I wouldn't want to turn it down a tad, thus protecting the speaker and preserving my tone .

Of course, if I'm wrong, you can tell me that I've got my head up my ass.

Ear candy makes great stuff. I have a few of the the cheap one they sell and they are great. The more expensive one are turned quite well from everything I have heard. If the sovereign is better than my bottom of the line then it will be great.

Gotta say that I prefer the governor over the V30...but I do have yet to mic it up...so who knows .
