I was visiting my daughter at college this past weekend (New Paltz, NY), and stopped in a guitar shop in town. Now, I'm not a huge fan of Firebirds, but I tried one that was hanging up and it sounded beautiful. The store owner(real nice guy) said it had belonged to Earl Slick and that Earl had changed the pups to customed designed Dimarzio's. He was asking $1500 for it (as usual, I didn;t have that kind of cash on hand), so I had to leave the guitar there. Probably could have gotten him down on the price. Played it through a nice Bogner combo. He has a ton of Naylor amps & PRS guitars too.
So, for any of you guys who are in that area of NY, and are looking for a Firebird, go check it out. The store in off of Main St., as you're leaving town. Take a left before the bridge and it's in one of those little shopping villages, in the center, next to a coffee place I think. The shopping village is right on the road. You can't miss it. (forgot the name of the store, sorry).
