for your info, dumpweed, my fender jaguar with its 8 k humbucker, and my fender strat with its 16k humbucker, and my gibson v with its pos stock gibson humbucker, can all nail the van halen tone. Why? Because i practice! Because i spent years beating up the fingerboard with my fingertips trying to get the harmonics out and the runs just right.

The sarcastic remark about 9k and 16k humbuckers sounding similar in the same guitar, amp, and effects rig (as if to imply they wouldn't sound anything alike) was proof positive that this cat is an internet forum dweller and not a guitar player.

You can get Van Halen with a Gretsch if you're plugged into a hi-gain amp.

Will it sound like VH1? No. Eddie doesn't even sound like that anymore. That was HIS sound THEN...what's YOUR sound NOW?

EVHGUITARS,im sure you have gone to the Metro Amp site,there was a person on that site named Nitro who was extemely knowledgeable about EVH and alot of the questions you are asking,if you look and nitro history on the metro site and the knowledge he gave will help you a great deal,he was banned from that site because he wouldnt take crap from some people(small amount),he was banned because of a member on that site named Marco, a complete idiot,he would call people names and say thing like your stupied and you dont know what your talking about,anyway nitro wouldnt take his **** and defend himself,so instead of banning the idiot who knew nothing the gutless administrator from that site banned nitro and kept the moron(marco)that started the crap,he also started crap with other people on that site this guy(marco)thought he knew everything about EVH but didnt know ****,everything he learned about EVH was due to nitro and some other members,im rambling on here,sorry about that but i did learn alot fron Nitro on that site,i hope this helps you out................

... I don't know about their other forum topics, but Metro amp's "Edward Van Halen" threads seem to be a bastion of EVH pup/amp/guitar disinfo. A lot of good questions are asked there.. but the "answers" they come up w/ have generally no basis in fact or chronological reason...
