EastWest Composer Cloud -- anyone take the plunge yet?

Re: EastWest Composer Cloud -- anyone take the plunge yet?

Update: just got this email from EastWest:

Dear Composer Cloud Member,

You’re probably looking forward to adding your next product to your Composer Cloud subscription. Well, we’re not giving it to you.

Instead, we’re giving you everything. That’s right, we’re giving you access to all 50 products in Composer Cloud for the same rate you’re paying now.

What’s the catch? There is none. So many of you have signed up that we were able to get Amazon to cut our download costs in half. We don’t want you to wait to enjoy the full Composer Cloud experience. We want to give you all the instruments you need to create your best work and we want to give them to you today!

What do you need to do? You'll see your new license ready for activation in the EastWest Installation Center.

Need we say more? Thank you for being a member of Composer Cloud. And don’t forget to spread the word to all of your musician friends!

Your Friends at EastWest Sounds
I honestly don't know if I even have enough space to store that many samples! :D

Re: EastWest Composer Cloud -- anyone take the plunge yet?

I've been tempted since the last time this was posted a while back. After reading that, I'm even more. EW has been on my lottery list since forever. Looks like I may have to cave in and do the evil subscription thing.

I now have all 4 Symphonic libraries (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion), the choir library w phrase creator, some percussion libraries, ambient sound libraries, and the two I am most excited about: the exotic instruments and Fab Four libraries ... just keep in mind that you will need a LOT of time to download this stuff; each library is immense.

Re: EastWest Composer Cloud -- anyone take the plunge yet?

Just relaced the generic Logic EXS synths in a songwriting demo w EW samples.

Would that work in Garageband 10?

A former bandmate and I have been collaborating recently. He has been using a BOSS BR800 whilst I use Logic. We have agreed to meet halfway, so to speak, by swapping content via Garageband. (In the longer term, I would like him to advance to Logic. It is going to be a good while before that comes to pass.)

Better soft synths would help to make the joint compositions sound less generic. Even Waldorf Nave would be step forward.

Re: EastWest Composer Cloud -- anyone take the plunge yet?

Interesting proposition on subscription, but have over 80Gb of samples free and clear already and buy them frequently from producerloops, zero-g, loopmasters, and various other sample sources, eastwest included.

I don't think i could possibly get my $30 per month worth. If i didn't already have a ridiculously large sample library already I certainly would think about it.

I don't see why not as long as it's a MIDI track.
I open up a Software Instrument track, make sure to DISABLE the 'open Library' tab, snd then copy the MIDI into that.
Then you can assign anything to it.
