Re: Ecofriendly Gibson: set to move to 100 percent certified wood this month

id would seem to me that with the prices they are charging they would have funds to grow their own trees with some biological enhanced whatever..but hey i guess certified wood aint too far behind

THIS IS EXCELLENT!!! I've held off on buying a mahogany guitar for a long time. I've always had this feeling of guilt for buying an uncertified piece of wood because mahogany trees take a really long time to grow and are endangered, which is why I've always been apprehensive. This is great. Now all Gibson needs to do is fix their QA issues and take $200 off their prices and I’m good to go! ;)

Wow. This makes Gibson seem a little less like a tool of Satan and a little more like a company that wants to make a differance. Kudos.

About time the industry really took notice of this. Now we just need everyone else to follow suit.

Way to go... and for the price, that's the least they can do :p

Re: Ecofriendly Gibson: set to move to 100 percent certified wood this month

but theres something a bit gratifying though about knowing that not only can your guitar slay the audience, but it kills the environment too. i am a republican afterall :newangel:

Re: Ecofriendly Gibson: set to move to 100 percent certified wood this month

there are so manywoods out there, but guitar building uses just a few. even if guitar building uses just a few rainforest woods, it is too much. every company should realize that using harvested woods is great for the planet, but good marketing too.

those gibsons are stupidly expensive though...they should be cheaper using mexican and other north american woods.

Since when is this news? Gibson has been selling guitars made from green wood for years.
