I have an 81 Park- one of the very last Parks made.
It's a 50w MV head, and it sounds pretty good. It doesn't have the volume or the headroom of my 78 Marshall, and I would say it doesn't sound quite as smooth. It's had some work done to it- although I don't really know what. I'm assuming some rocket surgeon added a effects send/return to it. I saw a 50w when I got out of the Army, and thought I could find a different one- I didn't even see another for almost 10 years.

From most everything I've read, most Park stuff was made nearly identically to equivalent Marshall amps, with the difference in the cosmetics of them. You'll notice the aluminum panels are brushed silver instead of gold as well as the inserts on the knobs. (I think the knobs are black instead of the Marshall brown). What I would really like to find is one of the Park Rock Heads. One was on Ebay a few months ago. It's the precursor to the high gain heads like the SLO and Dual Rec amps. With two cascading gain sections and 100w... Yow.
rebadged marshall amps, due to marshall not being allowed to sell them to some store or other in the 70's.. they made the Park brand and sold them under that name...
park continued with the rebadging (mainly speakers used in marshall amps) till the late 90's (had a practice amp with a marshall speaker, and a friend has a 1960 with parks in them. speakers were made in UK, so it's a fair bet to say that they are celestions)

There were no Parks made from 1981 until 1992 when they used the Park name for practice amps and cheap amps made in "the Orient." Not the same thing. At all.

Same factory. Same parts (for the most part). Same designs (for the most part).
If you look in the Doyle book, the story is that a guy by the name of Johnny Jones ran a small chain of shops and sold a lot of Marshalls. When Rose Morris took the distribution for Marshalls, Jones' shops got cut out of the distribution, so Jim set up Park to get products to Jones' shop. Park is/was the maiden name of Jones' wife.
One of the more rare Marshall made sub brands, Narb, was the last name of engineer Ken Bran- backwards.
