Effects of temp and humidity on woods

My epi has a mahogany neck and body, and it seems like every time I pick it up, there is an issue with having to retune. An acquaintance has a gib and says he has the same problem, especially if there is a change in temperature and humidity. Are woods that sensitive to temp and humidity?
I also have a cheap yamaha with basswood body which sits about six feet away from the epi, and it never goes out of tune. What's wrong with this picture?

Try storing your guitars in their cases when not in use. It may not totally cure the issue but I think it will help.

I think it's not as much the wood as it is the hardware. Just a guess.

i notice my main strat does that too. depending on which way the temp/humidity goes it'll either be a tad flat or a tad sharp.

if the weather stays consistant then it'll stay in tune until the strings wear out....
