Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

yup, those look pretty hawt. Especially the ML.

Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

I wasn't talking design; I was just talking "make it black and gold with block inlays"

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

As much as I love Six in line head stocks Deans don't look right to me with out the classic V head stock especially on the ML and V. Still sweet none the less

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

OH MY GOD. DO WANT. DO WANT NOW.

Looks like I know where my tax return money is going.

Actually those Chicago series look pretty cool too.

Yes. **** yes.

I got an email about those a lil while back and meant to make a thread.

The new headstocks look so goddamn nice on those bodies.

I wonder how many new Dean customers that will bring alone. I know a few guys on here hated the V headstock.

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

You mean a DEAN V or ML without that FUGLY V headstock that makes the guitars so neck heavy that the neck heads to the floor as soon as you let the guitar go with your hand and a non V neck profile?? WOW that is a BIG step up!

Ugliest headstocks in the business. They need to have a contest or something and let the public come up with their headstock designs.

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

I'm sure I will surprise absolutely nobody when I say that the Z here has captured my interest! I dig the Custom-Style-A-La-Gibson, and now that they've lost that forked headstock, well. Not a huge fan of their inline headstock either, but the fork just doesn't do it for me. My, my, my... I really didn't want to be dealing with any GAS now. Damn...

+1. The split headstock like on the Razorbacks and MLs is fine, esp. on those particular models, but the 6-IL is just BUFUGLY IMO.

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

I dont think so

but they are ugly and ugly sells a lot of guitars these days

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

I love that they're using Dimarzio pups again, for some of the models. It adds to the authenticity of the reissues. I'm not sure about the six in line headstocks, though. I'd really like to see them use the shrimpfork, on a V.

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

Don't see where the ugliest headstock in the business comes from, to me it looks a lot like an Ibanez headstock but with a hint of wind-flap, as a nod to the "get your wings" era.
Sure, could be better but def. not even close to being the worst. I mean, have you seen the G&L headstock? How about the Tyler one?
And, are we forgetting this little beauty?:

And I'm not mentioning some of the more obscure monstrosities that a quick "ugliest guitar headstock" Google search turned up. Trust me, you'd be amazed...

To me it feels like Dean is finally graduating from the kiddy-stock to a proper headstock. Why do builders keep making 3+3 headstocks with the strings between the tuners and the nut at wild angles is beyond me. Even if it is on a hardtail, haven't the ever heard of bending a string?

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

The Chicago Standard Z has my attention in a big way.

Re: Ehrmagherd Dean has finally done something right!

I like that headstock, just not on those guitars. They need a headstock that's new that fits with all three of these better.

I think it's a side-effect that comes with some of the best-looking headstocks. Gibson, Jackson pointy, Kramer -- all cool-looking headstocks with some unfortunate geometry, from a purely functional perspective.

As much as I really don't care for the old Dean V headstock, I liked it on the Cadillac, for some reason. I think it balances the whole guitar out really well.
