EL34's in a single rectifier and guitar center's return policy

for those who have experienced it, how do EL34's sound in a series II single rectifier? i'm thinking of trying it just for kicks, since i do have a little bit of money saved up right now.

and say i got some EL34's from guitar center and didn't like the way it sounded...does GC's 30 day return policy apply to tubes too? would i be able to take them back?

I just bought El34 svetlana tubes for my dual rectifier. It doesnt have the low end as much as the 6l6 but it cuts thru the mix better with the band. I like both maybe a 6ca7 groove tube is next as it mixes both 6l6 and 3l34 sounds. You cant return tubes to Guitar center. I tried.

hmm, i was thinking about trying el34's in my rectifier but i'm hesitating because of what i hear about the lack of low end.

hmm, that actually never crossed my mind. but i won't forget that. and yes, they do rule

i actually just got back from GC with the EL34's...i'm going to drop them in later this afternoon when my band practices. i'll be able to crank it then, and i'll be sure to let you guys know how it sounds.

hearing those things about the low end gives me a few second thoughts too, but after all i do only have my bass around 5 with the 6L6's in there....so we'll see how it goes.
