Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if the new elixir optiwebs last as well as nanowebs. Does anybody has experience with them? How do they sound? How do they last? Do the plain strings corrode?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

I've had a set of Optiwebs on my main electric for about a month now. They are still lasting like Nanowebs would have. The tone is different than Nanowebs, but still "Elixir". I'm kind of in an internal debate on which direction I want to go for strings in the future. I like NYXLs a lot, but they are corroding/rusting on the plain strings. The Elixirs are lasting great, but the tone is like a brighter Nanoweb.

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

Thank you! Do they have that easy-to-slide feel too like other elixirs? I really like the sound of traditional strings but after 2-3 hours of playing they corrode. Elixirs feel very nice to me, but the tone isn't the best.

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

The optiwebs been on one of my guitars now for almost 2 months still sound brand new, not corroded or anything just like nanoweb.

Been using the nanowebs exclusively for around 16years. The optiweb sound alitle bit different, almost like they been played alitle when they are brand new.
So right out of the box nanoweb sounds brighter to my ears. Dont know might be going crazy.

Yes they have that slide feel but not as much as nanoweb just a tiny bit less.

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

I put some on an acoustic once and it seemed like dead strings right out of the box
I dont remember if it was nanoweb or what
it was elixir

with that said my current acoustics have elixirs as does my bass

my Hummingbird has the 80-40 bronze set
I wont get those again

kinda lost the mids compared to the Martin with the same set of regular PB

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

Depends so much on the environment that the guitar resides.
Strings go tone-dead way before they show corrosion or feel bad for me, and I use basic boomers, slinkys, and xl.
Hand-washing and keeping the area moderate goes a long way. (humidity 40-60%, temp 60-80)

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

after how long? I had cheapo chinese strings in some guitars of mine which lasted fine for over a year.

~3 months. House is always temp and humidity controlled. I didn't wipe them down, but I never do and XLs and Slinkys don't seem to do it.

I know, I know.... 3 months. I would have changed earlier in a different life, but I have too many guitars now and too little time due to work/family. Being able to pickup a guitar and have it sound fresh is awesome, that's why I'm trying the Optiweb.

Re: Elixir Optiweb vs Nanoweb

I had the same set of Elixir on one of my guitars for 5 years, still sounded brand new hehehe.
