EMG 57/66 question

For anyone who's tried/had a good listen to the EMG 57/66 set, what would you say the EQ curve of the pickups are? I'm thinking about switching over to them from my Blackouts and want an idea of how I'll have to adjust my amp settings beforehand. I know that the 57/66 set is brighter, but that's about it.

Not sure about the Blackouts but the 57/66 are quite neutral sounding, imagine PAFs with more push and output, with a bit of both passive/active feels to it. I don't think they are very bright, at least when compared to EMG 81/85.

Re: EMG 57/66 question

The main thing with the 57/66 compared to Blackouts is the more conventional output level and, hence, dynamics and apparent drive through a valve amplifier.

The same would be true of the SD Live Wire Classic II humbucker pair.

Re: EMG 57/66 question

Notably less output than the Blackouts, less bottom end boominess and a more open sounding midrange that feels "brighter", but the pickups themselves are not particularly "bright" overall.

(Sorry I'm just replying to this now) Thanks guys! It was mainly reviews I've read of the pickups that had led me to believe that they were really bright. I didn't really get that impression from any demos I've seen of them.
