Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

Rah, once I ditch my 59n, I'm picking up an 85 bridge.

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

EMG 85 neck, 81 bridge here.

I'll be modding one of my Strats to an 85 bridge with 60a in the neck sometime after Christmas.

I'm also thinking about modding another one of my Strats to SA/SA/85....

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

Guitars shouldn't need batteries.

Anyone want to buy my Fishman Tuneomatic Powerbridge and powerchip?

Get the **** out of this thread if you don't like them. Don't hate, appreciate.

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

I don't hate them. I just don't like them. My offer was serious. I do not like to replace batteries after forgetting to unplug my guitar.

Besides... Isn't this a Seymour Duncan board?
Seems like this should be posted on an EMG board somewhere else.

Nice. A liberal board!

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

seymour duncan is the web page /forum that you are on ! so why attack us if you want to show "appreciation" do it on the EMG site instead of slapping us around !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like you did to brandonbean not cool

It is.

I've even seen some of the SD employees give advice with regards to competitors products.

It might not be much, but it does give one faith in the company.

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

It's not that hard to take the backplate off and replace the battery. It's weird also because I never unplug my guitar and I have had them in with no batt change for 7 months.

This thread says EMG appreciation, not Let's talk about why active pickups suck.

Why can't I make a ****ign thread about EMG's on the Seymour Duncan forum dude? Quit kissing ass and be real man.

Let's stick the the subject here, its the thread for people that appreciate their EMGs.

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

While I don't find their pickups to be as focused or voiced as other leading competitors, they do bring chunk and balls to anything desireably metal. :) Rock on!

Not by a longshot bad pickups.

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

OK... ok. The actives on my Warwick Bass are nice, very nice, but I still ...um leave it plugged in all of the time.

Bones: I didn't know how liberal it is here. Goto www.fenderforum.com talk about how you like Les Pauls and whatnot and see long they let you post there.

To be fair I have never had a set of EMGs in my 6 string. Since I have hit a nerve why don't you attempt to convince me that the battery is worth it? I mean this sincerely. I don't only use duncans, but they are my first choice (being fair).
I actually prefer my Mexican Stock ceramic pickups in my mexi strat (maybe going too far for this board).

Seriously guys. Instead of straight praise like, "There the best. I love mine...etc..etc" Sell me on why I should take my guitar apart (espicially a strat where battery access will only be on the front) and put actives.

I am not ripping on actives. I am ripping on batteries. Educate me.

PS. Bones,

Do you have a strat with a swimming pool route? Will you be doing a double fat?

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

EMG 81 set here... very happy with the 81 for distortion, but want to try EMG60 on neck for cleans (although my practice amp won´t give me crystal clear tones)

btw i don´t need to get out of this forum to say i like EMGs or Dimarzios or Bill Lawrence or whatever...i have always liked the way people likes other brands on this forum while they praise Duncans, as i do, cause this is not, love duncans, hate the rest...every pup builder has work a lot also, and deserves a little respect for that imo

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

I love EMGs for super tight and heavy crunch tones, otherwise passives are in the rest of my guitars:

Here's an EMG 60 that I rehoused and put a gold cover on. It's not staying in my EXP, it's gonna go in a different guitar:

Yo dude, I'm sorry for ripping on you, but I wanted this to praise EMGs and I didn't want it going off topic after 3 posts, I felt like it was going in the direction. It's like making a Hotrails appreciation thread and someone comes in and says "It's too muddy." I just took some midol so im ok now. Single coil tone is something that EMGs isn't good at so I understand you there. My USA strat has HSH routing, I am going to put a single EMG81 because it sounds so tight and kick ass when I palm mute. and I like the existing gain it has to begin with. I was using CC/APH in my strat but I had to change all my EQs and **** whenever I switched from my ibanez to the Strat. I think EMGs look dead sexy too. :32:

Re: EMG Appreciation thread, EMGers make your presence be known.

EMG 85s are a million times better than 81s for a metal bridge pickup. The 81 is brighter but the tone is much more sterile and tinny. The 85 is plenty bright and actually has tone and balls. Great match for a quality tube amp.

Killer guitars...How did you rehouse the 60?? I've always wondered how you'd go about doing that, how would you remove the black cover? I heard removing the black cover destroyed the pickup?
