Here are a couple of clips from this evening of the James Hetfield EMG set I just installed in my Epi "58 Korina" Eplorer.
FYI I suck at recording. I can play a riff a million times, hit record, and start messing up lol. But I think these give an idea of what the pickups can do.
The recordings were done with a Tascam DR-05x
Everything is standard tuning
Distorted is the bridge pickup into a Marshall DSL-1HR head and MX112 cab with an Eminence Man-O-War
Clean is both pickups for the first 2 parts, then just the neck; into an Orange Micro Dark and MX212 cab with Celestion G12E-60's
I LOVE the Distorted sound of these pickups. That's the main reason I got them, and they "chug". They sound brutal to me.
The bridge by itself doesn't clean up very well, a bit piercing in my opinion. But the neck by itself or both together sound pretty good in my opinion. I can also get some nice lightly overdriven blues tones out of the neck pickup, and some good southern/classic rock from the bridge. They seem to be a pretty versatile set, and I look forward to trying them out more.
I'll try to add some of the blues/rock clips before too long.
