EMG Neck Pickup? 81/85/60??

Re: EMG Neck Pickup? 81/85/60??

I thought the 707's were an 85 with a longer bar? If that's the case they should be pretty thick sounding.

An 89 IS an 85 and SA I thought?

That's what the website says, I was just wondering what other's opinions of them were.

P.S. The middle postion combining the 85n and 81b rocks. The 85 adds chug while the 81 adds crunch.

Everyone's talking about the middle position of EMG's.... but I thought EMG's couldn't be split, so therefore you can't combine them in a middle position!! Please explain how this is possible....

Re: EMG Neck Pickup? 81/85/60??

You're not splitting them, your running both at full power.

But,

You can wire them so they have separate volumes, and when used in the middle position they stay individual, so you can blend the two pickups together in any amount you want.

You're correct. My concern with the 707's in my 7 strings is because of the previous comment about EMG's in basswood bodies sounding rather thin. I know EMG's are pretty damn powerful, so I'm kind of hoping that the wood won't make much of a difference.

We can only pray...

That makes a lot of sense... thanks lol
