Eminence questions...

Re: Eminence questions...

Texas Heat sound great in my Twin. Big solid bottom end, neutral mids, and a sparkly high end with a little chime to it. At 150 watts, they can handle all it has to throw at them. When turned up or with an overdrive pedal, the bass and highs seem to stay the same, and the mids fill up a bit, for a little crunchy sound.

Re: Eminence questions...

don't bother with the red white & blues, it's just a bad speaker

swamp thangs are great. I know a few people who run em in an X pattern with v30's or governors & it just fills them out great, everything the v30 lacks, the swamp has

Re: Eminence questions...

Christian.....Can you buy the Weber designed Alnico speaker that they use in the '57 Twin RI? Having arough idea of how your taste in amps runs, I think that you would be very pleased with those.:fingersx:

Re: Eminence questions...

Flank: DO the Texas Heats have a solid enough bottom in your Twin or does it start to fart out at loud volumes?

Joe: Those speakers are very similar to the 12A150 that Ted sells and those are fine speakers but not stout enough for what I need them for...I need something thats big with a solid bottom and a high headroom.

Drew...I was hoping you'd chime in on this, PM sent!

sounds like you might need the Weber Caifornia specials. They make them without the aluminum dust cap so you can avoid the bleeding ear syndrome:laugh2: You putting a new set in the Twin?

Re: Eminence questions...

The Swamp Thangs and Texas Heat have very solid bottom end that refuses to fart out when pushed.

Re: Eminence questions...

The heats don't fart out at all. A pair of then is 300 watts of power handling.

The Weber Cali's are heavy as all get out and to be honest the worst souding Twin Reverb I ever played through was mine when it has a set of JBL's in it...Im sure the paper vs aluminum dust caps make a HUGE difference but im not sure i want to go down that road again...

Cool, thanks! Do they have enough bottom in an open back set up? I hae heard that they are a little weak in the bass...

i read the same thing about weak bass, and i couldnt disagree more. They can handle tons of bass, and can project a very deep tone.

Re: Eminence questions...

I run mine in a closed back reproduction of a Fender 2x12 Bassman cabinet. There were no bass issues in my application. I have not used them in an open back cab however so I cannot speak to that.

Have you contemplated the EV or comparable Weber option? This is assuming that you are buying cones for DA TWIN!!!!!!

I have an old set of EV's that are not working out at all...however I am on the look out for a set of SRO's and Im gonna try those as soon as I find a pair...I have thought about the Weber Michigans (EV's) but they are pretty pricy...

Re: Eminence questions...

Dude.......ALL Webers are pretty pricey:laugh2: I still have that pair of 16 ohm Alnico 10's mounted in a Deluxe sized baffle. Can't use them in the Vibrolux unless it turns out i need a new OT....then I would get the multi tap Mercury. They were going in the Deluxe RI, but I have decided to give that to my son as is once he gets a little further along in his playing.

Re: Eminence questions...

The Swamp Thang sounds great, fat, with really warm highs. No mud. I have it paired with a Tonespotter ( g12-65) and the cab sounds great!!

Re: Eminence questions...

i dont think the heats a lacking bottom even in a closed back cab
