Eminence Red Coat/Patriot Series

Re: Eminence Red Coat/Patriot Series

I tried the cajuns and found them to be lacking in the bass department. It might just be that I don't like 10's though. I dont' have a lot of experiecne with them.

I think I'd look at Webers really close. He makes a blue and a silver that get rave reviews.

I have 4 10" Reverend Alltones for sale if you're interested.

Re: Eminence Red Coat/Patriot Series

I have a Carvin 4x10 cab and put in 2 Emi Ragin Cajun's in an X pattern with the Carvin VL-10's. I don't usually care for Carvin speakers but these are actually pretty good. The Carvin speakers are voiced sort of like a ceramic Jensen. More mids with plenty of bottom. The Cajuns have a bit more bell like top end,but still well balanced. The mix works really well. If got a clip of these 10's on a page on my site below. The Cajuns are not broken in yet, so let that be yoru listening caveat. Just scroll down to the Carvin Clips.

I've never tried the Webers, but I see a lot of guys with the Blue Dog/Silver Bell combo. Who carries them or is it straight thru Weber?

Re: Eminence Red Coat/Patriot Series

I have the Ramrod in a small Laney combo.

Lots of bass and mids, and decent chimey smooth highs but not bright.

Very british speaker, very smooth.

Re: Eminence Red Coat/Patriot Series

Yeah the Webers are not cheap. Best bet is to watch eBay or over at TheGearPage.net as many guys are always changing and trying speakers. It's a good way to get em for atleast 20-25% less and barely used,or if your lucky just broken in. I picked up 2 Cajuns off eBay for $58. They are $47 each at Avatarspeakers. I a Celestion Lead 80 broken in and in perfect condition for $60 shipped of The Gear Page. Webers are always popping up. Unfortunately with speakers it's hard to just go by a referral. You just have to try them till ya like them and hear what's best. Formulate a list of speakers your after and go in orer of what you think you'd like and take it from there.

Here's an old archive page from the Weber site with tons of sound clips. The Blue Pup 10" sounds great but it's not cheap.
