Anyone try one out in a closed back cab? I have one on the way from Avatar and I've read nothing but great reviews of it in an open back. I'm going to pair it with the Swamp Thing that is already in the closed back cab. It seemed like an interesting pairing of speakers. Can't wait to try it out with my new Vox head that I also got today.

Best of luck with your head...May I suggest that you bring your head to the music stores and plug it into different cabs?

Also...The Tube OD pedal in the Valvetronix head is "ok" but it strips out alot of your lows...I'd suggest(Down the road)letting me mod either a TS9 or the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive to use instead of the Tube OD setting...Try the Tube OD setting and see if you agree with me? You may love it though also?

I'm currently plugging my Vox head into my Fender Cyber Twin cabinet...It's open back,deeper in dimension and loaded with 2 8 ohm Celestion G 12-100 speakers...I'm very happy because the cab and speakers retain tightness of tone,plenty of lows,and the clean sounds are very convincing also...Seems everyone likes the Vox cabs with the Neodogs also?

Thanks John, that's one of the main reasons that I got the head version. To easily be able to try out different cabs. I've got easy access to various cabs just with a couple of close friends. Everything from Celestion G12h's and V30'2 to Eminence's and various vintage Fender speakers. Can't wait to try them all! Myself, I've been using my Marshall 1x12 open back with the Celestion G12 Heritage and a 2x12 closed back cab with only the Eminence Swamp Thing loaded. It's an ok combo but I know that it can sound better. There are many times that I prefer the Swamp Thing by itself because it sounds so good and I just wanted to add another dimension to the sound. This is similar to pairing a Vintage 30 with a G12H30 to add more depth. Can't wait!

The Carvin Legacy 2x12 cab with V30s is priced pretty nice also,but I don't think it would be as good for the clean tones?

That's why I went for the American series of Eminence speakers as they tend to be more attuned to cleans, but at the same time sound great with gain too.

I have a pair of Texas heats in an open back 2x12 Pro Reverb and they sound outstanding. I also have tried one in my Tweed Deluxe and find it to be the best of the AMerican sounding speakers that has found it's way into the 5E3. No experience with closed backs and those speakers.

Thanks Scott, I'll keep you all posted on the closed back issue. I called Avatar a couple of hours ago and they are shipping it today. Last time I ordered from them it was to me the very next day. I'm only a few hours away from those guys in Idaho. In fact I should make the trip someday just to check it out. Might even find a better deal!
