epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

I have never owned an epi sg...

Aren't the necks joined to the body at different frets and does this make them not useable as replacements for an lp??

the reason I'm asking is because I have an epi lp that has suffered a non repairable neck break.

SG's and LP's sound somewhat different, but I'm sure an SG would work fine to replace an LP.

I'm thinking the heel is the same width, but is it the same shape/length?

Re: epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

If you're talking about using a neck designed for an SG to replace a neck designed for a Les Paul, it won't work. I don't know why you would un-glue one guitar's set-in neck just to replace a different guitar's set-in neck...

Re: epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

The Epi SG's I've played tend to have slimmer necks than the Epi LP's.

The body joins the neck at a different spot, which makes the SG neck feel longer even though they both have a 24.75" scale. Look at these pics and notice which fret the heel is behind.

That's not to say that you wouldn't be able to adjust though. I play both and don't find I have any problems. I have more of an issue changing scale lengths.

Oh, I didn't read it that way. Did you mean using an SG neck on an LP body? No, that won't work. I thought you were going to switch to an SG altogether.

Re: epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

That probably won't work man. Like was said earlier, their necks join the body at different places.

Re: epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

yeah, one joins at around 17 and the other around 15, just didn't know if they left the extra flat at the heel on an sg.

Re: epi sg neck = epi lp neck???

Ok, it sounds like the sg neck is a no go then....I just thought that they might possibly be interchangeable because they had the same scale and heel width.
