The flame is veneer over a maple cap, instead of all being one piece. Maybe the wood isn't the same quality as pieces Gibson uses, but then, I've read here that Gibson doesn't use Grade A lumber either. The shop workers aren't round-eyed Americans.
Since the originals are out of range for any of us, and the '59 Gibson VOS reissues are more than all but a handful of us would spend on a guitar, this would be as close as I'd get to it. I'd play one with pride anywhere.
That's a little confusing!!
these are nice epi's dont get me wrong,i just really dont like that head stock.
i would bet that more than a few pickers would want the look correct enough to save for the real lester,so maybe thats why the epis look different,it's a marketing ploy,to make sure purists only get the look from the real deal.
is this real,or photoshopped ?
Bottom line- ask an R8/R9 owner if he'd like to trade for a Epi reissue... or even three.
And Ask the Epi owner if he'd like to trade for an R8/R9...or even a Production Standard.
It's more than just the logo or headstock shape. People buy Epis to stay within their means and there is nothing wrong with that.
I think this model has the long tenon right? That should be an improvement over normal epis and probably even Gibby studios..
