Buy the Epiphone...do the upgrades and never...i repeat NEVER play a Gibson Semi-Hollow body for an extended period of time!
You'll be happy and "blissfull"!
Seriously though...buy what you can afford and make it work! Don't torture yourself over $$$!

Personally Id rather pay for quality and get one outstanding instrument (after all you can only play one at a time). I never understood why some people have 20 cheap guitars as It seems like a waste.....

your missing the point. The point is to have many good guitars, with different select pickups, for tone variation. Then also to have several excellent guitars with certain choice pickups. When all is said and done, Its all about the pickups. If not, i wouldnt be here. I build whole guitars around pickups. Its about tone experiments. True, you have to study the tone wood to make the most of it, but the pickups are paramount.

Not this again.............................
If you think an Epi is as good as a Gibson, you're probablly not old enough to find the clit yet.

Variety in tone doesn't come from whether you use an A2 magnet or A5.
Yes, it does. It's one of the parts of the formula.
