What pups would be the best for the Clapton circuit? Something like the CC, where you can turn the knob and boost the mids beyond their already mid-heavy EQ? Or a pup like the Custom where the mids are scooped? Would either of these be muddy at all?

I bought mine from www.acmeguitarworks.com. It is the real thing! The circuit board has the Fender logo on it. The complete kit sells for $85 US.

I have two Clapton Strats..(one black, one Metal flake green) Both Stock with the Lace sensors. I just recently compared these to the new "noiseless" PUPs. I think the Lace sensors sound brighter. IMO Better With or without the Preamp. I don't use the preamp that much I actually love the necks on these guitars. Both have been refretted with 6105 wire. I LOVE these GUITARS!!!!!!

I have a Black Clapton Strat from '92. I love it - it could be my all-time favorite guitar. I removed the Pre-Amp a long time ago because I was getting a lot of noise and crackling from the connection to the input jack. I was thinking of putting it back on the guitar, though. BTW, I have a Hot Rails(b), Lace Sensor Silver (m) and Classic Stack
in that guitar. The neck gets flip-flopped with a Fralin Vintage Hot fairly frequently.
Overall, she will be a life-time axe. She is so beat up that I doubt anyone would give me $200 for her. Wouldn't be worth it to sell!
