I read something by someone at Celestion that the Vintage 30 was designed to have the tone of a Celestion G12 Alnico
speaker...only in a 60 watt ceramic magnet format. Never sounded like one to me, but that's what I read. Lew
You're right Lew I just reread the description of the Vintage 30, and I was incorrect in saying it was based on the G12M greenback. It was supposed to be a high powered version of the Blue.

Interesting stuff, I casually looked at the add thinking he was endorsing greenbacks. Glad I read this thread. I sure like the g12h and vintage 30's. I have a g12h paired with a green back. I think I will retire the green back and go with a g12h. greenbacks just aren't doing it for me.

you have both. vintage 30s and g12h. They are not the same. the vintage 30s are the ones with the black sticker on the back. The g12Hs are teh ones with the gold stickers. The g12hs handle 30 watts and the vintage 30s handle (i think) 60 or 70 watts. The green ones in the magazine appear to be a "new" reissue of the originals. . . . . ??? I am interested to hear them. I am not sure if this is just a marketing gimmik or what. We guitarists are generally suckers for a "vintage" style reissue. Just look at the whole gibson "bumblebee" cap thing.

These are the RI's that Marshall is using in their HW (hardwired) series. This is a 20 watt G12 speaker made with the old glues etc. I think the speaker is also aged, or is it called pre-aged, well they really break them in. Used in the 18 watt and Plexi HW models.

yeah I knew one was a v30. But unsure of wether my g12h was a heritage or a vintage.
