Re: Eric Johnson Signature Strat

Could you, or anyone possibly tell me what this radius is.. how its measured, the playing or tonal differences?
Radius is the curve of the fretboard only.
Take a compass & draw a 7 1/2" circle or a 12" circle...
The little chunk of that circle that would touch the wood...maybe a 1 1/2" or 2" portion of it is the radius of the fretboard on a guitar.
They can go anywhere from real curved at around 7", to WAY flat at like a 22" radius.
There's no real tonal differences...mostly feel. Flatter is usually easier to play fast & bend on...too flat is hard to bend on...but rounder is usually easier to play chords on, but can fret out on bends if it's too round.
Anyway...
I bought an EJ Strat back in December, totally on a whim & it replaced two other Strats.
I still really dig the EJ...but it was a hard sell at $1600 & I'm not a guy who digs Strats at all.
I've played a few other EJ Strats since then but haven't been terribly knocked out by any of them. No more then any other Strat anyway...
They're also building a fukkin' TON of these things! My serial number is like 1700 something...178X? I think...I'd have to check...
But the local stores have gotten in serial numbers in the 12,000's already! My neck & body are stampped 10/05...it's 7/06 already...they've built MORE of those in the last six months then they did in the whole first year!!!
Anyway...
The pickups are SUPER DUPER clean.
Way low output...but I love the voicing of 'em. They're unlike any other set of Strat pickups I've ever played...that whole guitar is just so ALIVE & it rings!!!
But like I said, I haven't played any other EJ Strats that I feel are equal to mine. Kool guitars? Sure. Have I played other Strats (ie; NOT EJ's) that are pretty equal to mine? Sure.
So I dunno...$1500 for a bolt-on? A Strat?
Be sure you love it as-is.
There's too many kool, used Strats out there...I can't believe that people still buy new ones! LOL Where do they all go????!
