es-135 feedback

i just bought a gibson es-135 a couple days ago and i love so very much. im gonna be stickin with this archtop for a while now. i bought it with p-90s and now have lots of problems with feedback in this guitar. not on clean but with distortion i get this screachy noise and it really bugs me. can you guys suggest some tricks or tips to eliminate feedback problems. and also. how the hell do i change these pickups.

well, hollowbodies with gain do feedback more than regular guitars

yes i know but i have heard there are ways to eliminate some of it

you could put some foam in the openings...

no! dont do that! there does any sort of tone the guitar had.
You can play quieter, with less gain. Gain compresses the sound and strips away any tonal differences the guitar had.
Use another guitar for higher gain stuff. Stand far away from the amp. face away from the amp. Have the amp on the other side of the room/stage.

ya i really nead to play with less gain. i just realized when i turn the gain down i get a much freer airy sound and i love it. but how would i go about changing the pickups.

Dont know anything about changing the pickups, but have you thought about what you want to change them to?

Id definitely suggest a Seymour Duncan Custom soapbar (sp90-3) for the bridge and a Seymour Duncan vintage p90 soapbar (sp90-1) for the neck. Thats if you wanna change both pickups and if you wanna use duncans. Mmmmmmm they would sound soooo tasty in that guitar

Cos rock bands dont have good taste any more

Nick Cester from Jet uses a 335 though, and they're pretty popular and definitely rock, so maybe they'll start coming back.

I know i just purchased an es137 custom over a les paul standard, and i intend to use it for rock and jazz and latin stuff....TASTY!
