Re: ESP LTD Deluxe
I've owned all kinds Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter, Gibson and LTD guitars, and even a Parker Nitefly, and I always keep coming back to the LTDs. I've had the H-1000 (A.K.A "cockstock"), H-1001, MH-1000, and right now I'm back to a beautiful blue H-1001 FM. Pretty much all the same set-up, Korean-made, string-through-body hardtail, 1-tone/1-vol, 5-way selector, Tonepros bridge, locking tuners (the "ESP" brand locking tuners they currently use are verrry nice, smooth and with 18:1 ratio), "Earvana" nut which I think is discontinued in current models, and always with Duncans. All my previous LTDs came with JB/Jazz; somehow this H-1001 ended up advertised with JB/59 but actually came with Custom 5/Jazz.
All of the LTDs also sound great unplugged, they resonate beautifully, and the neck seems to fit my hand just right. I recently picked up a Jackson Soloist, on a whim, but I'd really like to get my hands on another MH-1000 or H-1001, and dump the Jackson! Currently I've put a Duncan Distortion w/Alnico 8 in the bridge, and IMO it is absolutely perfect. For a time I had a Custom 8 in the bridge and it smoked the Jackson as well- if I had a second LTD that would be the perfect match, probably Custom 8 in the bridge and 59 in the neck.
IMO only the Parker Nitefly played better but in other ways it was a bit quirky. And for what it's worth, I also tried an ESP Horizon II NT, which is almost identical to the LTD MH-1000 NT, and IMO it didn't play any better than the much lower-priced LTD. I'm really happy with the LTD Deluxe models and from now on that's what I'll probably stick with... anybody want to buy a Jackson? :naughty:
