ESP LTD Deluxe

I've tried a few of these over the last year or two and they always seem to be very consistent. Comfortable necks and frets, good build quality, they come with a lot of good features and just feel like good guitars. If I want to buy another LP style guitar and don't want to break the bank, I think this would be my next axe. What are your guys thoughts on them? Especially those who have owned one and used it extensively. Thanks!

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I haven't owned one, but I have played several of them and they are great guitars! I have a couple 400 series LTDs and I love them. I might pickup a Deluxe EC-1000 before too long. But yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with one.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I have 2 Chinese made LTDs, along with playing a few higher ups at guitar stores. Like you said, they're extremely consistent. You really can't go wrong with an EC, they're great guitars.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

Very good guitars! I had an ec 400at that I sold cuz I prefer the 4 knob arrangement of a typical LP type. I regret it deeply as it sounded huge, played great and sustained for eternity. I really like the new 1000T/ctm. Thick body like a normal lp type

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I had a ec-1000 for 6 years. Great guitar for the money, especially these days, they've gone down a bit, at least here in CAnada.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I've owned a EC401 for the last few weeks and don't really have anything bad to say about it.

Indonesian guitars really seem to have come on alot as this is alot better than the Epi LP I used to own (and so is the Epi Firebird I bought last year), and as it comes with EMGs as standard there's also less desire to change the pickups out.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I currently own an EC-300 and very often play a buddy's EC-401 and they're both damn-near flawless and a no-brainer for the price. Hell, their whole line is really...Best bang for the buck imports being made, IMHO.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I have the Deluxe EC1000 with the Duncans and I like it very much! Most come with EMG's dont know how they compare.

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

The next les paul i buy will be an edwards(ESP).

Ive had several LTDs, and the only bad one i ever got was a 2006 100 series MH. The 3 i still own are chinese, korean, and indonesian. All superb quality.

My MH-350NT came with EMGs and dark hardware, but the playability and killer top was worth switching the ****ty EMGs and swapping for chrome hardware.

Edwards' are great too.. However, they have gone Way up in price last couple of years and arent quite the value they used to be once you also factor in the shipping. Hving said that, Id love to have a V and replace John sykes I once had..

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

i wanna play one of those 1000 CTMS again.. : ) If it didnt have emgs, would be da shizzle

Re: ESP LTD Deluxe

I've owned all kinds Ibanez, Jackson, Schecter, Gibson and LTD guitars, and even a Parker Nitefly, and I always keep coming back to the LTDs. I've had the H-1000 (A.K.A "cockstock"), H-1001, MH-1000, and right now I'm back to a beautiful blue H-1001 FM. Pretty much all the same set-up, Korean-made, string-through-body hardtail, 1-tone/1-vol, 5-way selector, Tonepros bridge, locking tuners (the "ESP" brand locking tuners they currently use are verrry nice, smooth and with 18:1 ratio), "Earvana" nut which I think is discontinued in current models, and always with Duncans. All my previous LTDs came with JB/Jazz; somehow this H-1001 ended up advertised with JB/59 but actually came with Custom 5/Jazz.

All of the LTDs also sound great unplugged, they resonate beautifully, and the neck seems to fit my hand just right. I recently picked up a Jackson Soloist, on a whim, but I'd really like to get my hands on another MH-1000 or H-1001, and dump the Jackson! Currently I've put a Duncan Distortion w/Alnico 8 in the bridge, and IMO it is absolutely perfect. For a time I had a Custom 8 in the bridge and it smoked the Jackson as well- if I had a second LTD that would be the perfect match, probably Custom 8 in the bridge and 59 in the neck.

IMO only the Parker Nitefly played better but in other ways it was a bit quirky. And for what it's worth, I also tried an ESP Horizon II NT, which is almost identical to the LTD MH-1000 NT, and IMO it didn't play any better than the much lower-priced LTD. I'm really happy with the LTD Deluxe models and from now on that's what I'll probably stick with... anybody want to buy a Jackson? :naughty:
