Re: ESP Ltd H-400 or Schecter C-1 Blackjack?

the website says set-thru....what the **** is that? and why does it look to be thru body?

Re: ESP Ltd H-400 or Schecter C-1 Blackjack?

I explained what set-thru was on the first page. They both have the exact same neck joint.

In my books, the two guitars are pretty much equal. The Ltd isn't a string-thru, but if you don't want a black guitar, I think the beautiful finish makes up for that.

Do you have access to these? If so GO AND PLAY THEM!
Feel is THE most important thing to consider when buying a guitar. One of them may play like a dream, the other might feel like crap. Find the one that suits you best.

The H-400 is not a neck-through, its a "set-through", which is a set-neck but with a carved away heel so it feels like a neck-through. Exactly what the Schecter has.

but then why does it look like its neck-through? does the tapered wood go all the way down the length of the body steady getting thinner? or just half of the bodies thickness down the length?

Set Thru is like an insanely long tenoned set neck.

I'm starting to get a little confused too... It's explained somewhere here: http://www.espguitars.com/support_features.htm

This is what it says: SET-THRU NECK JOINT
Our innovative neck construction technique gives you the look and feel of a neck-thru-body design while maintaining the warmth and wood tone combinations of a set-neck instrument. Access to the upper frets is not a problem, and gone is that old traditional “bulky” set-neck heel.

still doesnt help lol i wish that they had a diagram or something :smack:

Dude you're not reading. A "neck-thru" is a set neck with a shaved, contoured heal that makes it look and feel like a neck-thru, but it's not one piece like a true neck-thru, it's just a shaved set neck.

Well, since nobody's actually talked about H series guitars...they have super-deep cutouts and fit really well against your body. I think my 207 has a great tone and it's a bolt-on...so the set can only be better...I guess, since it has all better stuff.
