Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

Not to mention the amp's more important for getting that EVH brown sound than any pickup will ever be... Don't get me wrong, I think good pickups can make all the difference between getting along with your sound and loving it, I just think as long as you're playing a strat with a floyd through a dimed marshall, you're going to get 90% there. It's not like people in the audience are going to be like "Well, it's good, but I really wish he had used the fender EVH replica pickup, it just doesn't sound authentic to me"

the moral of the story is: Don't sweat the small stuff. And buy from duncan.

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

maybe the one there selling through the custom shop is ,but the original one in the fender EVH guitar is a fully charged A2..

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

it doesnt matter what was done when the pickup was not publicly available.its now available and your telling people that its a custom custom???i know for 100% fact that its an asymetric wind with a fully charged alnico 2 magnet.that is way different sounding than a custom custom which has even wound coils.i dont ask anyone here for anything.i was told some one here was using my clips,i came and checked it out and you start preaching to me about spaming, your beef is with some one else not me.go play you custom custom through your 5150 amp,and keep your incorrect thoughts to your self..

It completely matters what was done in the meantime. People are buying that pickup for VH1 sounds and what is in there today won't do it. Its not the same.

Who are you and what clips are you talking about? Your an anonymous no one talking **** from what I can tell. Translation = troll. Support your facts or move on.

I will stick with my Plexi. You can keep your beehive 5150's

you dont know what your talking about, thats obvious...you think two pickups are the same due to there resistance readings and what magnet is in the pickup.there is alot of other factors, you have alot to learn..

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

Evan said the specs on the ones Fender is making available is deguassed A2 fellas....

+1, why is anyone even contending that it's fully-charged A2? As if any one of us really knows more about this pickup than Evan and MJ do.... Give me a break.

:soapbox: :smack:  <= I just like this little dancing guy.....

Is there an echo in here?

No **** Sherlock. Unfortunately those are the only specs that have been provided and they are pretty important ones. When they provide more I will revise my opinion if needed. Until then either produce something of substance to prove otherwise or just stop. Can't produce facts so you attack the poster. Classic troll move.

Yeah.... degaussed because the original is about 20 years old most likely. Maybe more if it came from another pickup. Doesn't mean it started out that way.

That's very possible. I'm assuming they would want the same gauss level as Eddie's Frankenstrat's pickup, when they examined it. As they've said, the pickup replica is what was in Eddie's Frankenstrat when they checked it out awhile ago....

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

I just got off the phone with Mr. Van Halen, he said if you guys dont shut up and play your guitars ,he will start using Karera guitars "upgraded" with GuitarHeads pickups through Gorilla amps and Behringer stomp boxes
really
and he was serious
oh yeh and he said sjm5150 is actually Sammy Hagar..a real troll

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

so what exactly is a degaussed magnet? is it kind of a "warn in" magnet?

Basically yes. Over time magnets will lose their charge or exposure to certain things will diminish the magnets strength. Seymour does this to replicate the aging process to alter the pickups tone.

Re: EVH Frankenstein Humbucker

How will a less charged A2 mag differ the tone?

In my experience, the huge mid hump that A2 has softens with degaussing. It becomes much more even, and gets a bit more 'chew'. It even becomes a touch brighter, but not by a whole lot. Overall, degaussed A2 may be my favorite magnet, b/c it keeps all of that delicious A2 flavor and response.
