Re: EVH Wolfgang Special/Frankenstein/Striped Series
I have been GASing for a Pro Mod for a while. Isnt it pretty much the same guitar as the evh striped but with a neck pickup and a solid paint color?
I have both
The Pro Mod has an Alder body, with Duncan JB/ '59 pickups. Also has aluminum control cover plates.
The EVH Striped has the striped paint job- which when you look closely, you can see the paint seems, so it's done by stencil/ hand, it's not a wrap or graphic, so it costs more and is more labor intensive, and IMO the paint finish is better than the MIA Pro mods. Maybe the MIJ and MIM were finished better, but the MIA Pro Mods had thin finished that chipped easily.
The EVH has a basswood body and the EVH Wolfgang bridge pickup.
The EVH has the EVH Floyd, which is supposed to be the same Korean Floyd on the Promod series, but is stamped EVH. The EVH has flimsy soft plastic electronics cavity and trem covers, which feel very cheap compared to any guitar manufactuter- (whereas the Charvel has aluminum). The EVH has the EVH Wolfgang pickup.
The EVH has a graphite reinforced quartersawn maple neck, whereas the Charvel is just quartersawn maple.
The EVH also has the D-Tuna, the Charvel does not.
