Expression Pedal Recommendations?

I'm looking for a better expression pedal for my Keeley Halo delay. Right now I'm using a repurposed Cry Baby shell, but the short throw makes it hard to adjust while playing. I'm mostly using it to control the mix and feedback and I have trouble getting it "just right".

I also wish it were smaller, so I'm considering the Dunlop Mini Volume/Expression pedal. Anybody used one? I'm wonder how the long the throw is on that one. Beyond that, I guess the big Ernie Ball and Roland pedals are probably the most popular for pro boards.

What's your expression experience?

I had the Roland the polarity made it incompatible with my Eventide Pitchfactor. I returned it and got the MOOG EP-3 universal polarity and could not be happier. It has a large sweep, perfect height, and a great non-slip tread on top. I now have it plugged into my H9 and use it frequently with great joy. I have even been neglecting my Morley of late and using the EP-3 with the H9 wah algorithms, fantastic tracking, and action on the pedal.

I was considering the Source Audio Reflex Expression pedal but it is pricey

I use the Dunlop one, and it is great. Super smooth, and it works with a variety of gear. It will also work as a plain volume pedal.

I have the full size one. I won it is a Premier Guitar contest a few years ago. I use it to control a Line 6 delay pedal.

Securb's Moog gets good reviews and the price is very reasonable, but it's HUGE: two inches longer than a Cry Baby.

It is larger, not as big as some volume pedals. One of the reasons I like it is it is built like a tank. The other is the range and smooth sweeping. If you have real estate on your board I would say go for it. I think the functionality of the pedal would influence most positive reviews, the low price is just a bonus.

Here it is on my board for scale. The Morley next to it is a Mini. And mine is actually an EP 2, not an EP 3, The 3 has a removeable cable.

I don't know if it's compatible with the Halo, but I'm using a BOSS EV-30 with my Mastermind GT. It's significantly smaller than a EB Volume or Crybaby, but still big enough to not feel awkward under my size 13s. It also has a decently long and smooth sweep.

After a lot of hemming & hawing, I sprang for the Dunlop Mini. I really like it. It's a really solid pedal, heavy for its small size. It even included the allen wrench needed to adjust the pedal tension, which I cranked up to make it fairly stiff. The sweep is quite a bit wider than that of a Cry Baby, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Since I started looking for an expression pedal, I found that this is the same one Andy Timmons uses with his Halo, and I can see why.

Happy Camper.

sounds good! glad to hear its heavy, i worry about mini pedals being too light and wimpy

I know you purchased the Dunlop, but for future reference I'm using a Melo Audio EXP-001 that is small, light and affordable.
