"Extreme Shaped Guitars" Talk And Recommendations

Re: "Extreme Shaped Guitars" Talk And Recommendations

One of my favorite guitars to play because it’s comfortable, sounds awesome, and has a fantastic neck,

I am generally not into modern 'retro' designs, I think. I grew up playing a Strat, but these days, even Strats are not ergonomic enough for me.

You would probably like one of mine. It's so ergonomic it makes a Strat feel like a Les Paul by comparison. These pictures don't really show how it wraps around your body and just becomes an extension of you.

What kinda nut is that?
And does it just mount in a standard strat slot?
Is is Tusq or tusqlike?

Re: "Extreme Shaped Guitars" Talk And Recommendations

Wow, that's impressive! Not my thing stylistically, but I can see that being super comfortable!

My Brian Moore is concave. This pic isn't mine, but you can see how it is curved.

Of course, the Steinberger is pretty extreme for some people

I just looked at the graph tech website and didn’t see any compensated nut there. It sure looks like one though.

They sell 'em on Squeebay. Just some plastic strips w/ double sided tape.

Have you installed one in your shop?
I'm curious as to how well they work

The roller nut I put on the daphne blue strat ain't working out
It's one of the WD versions with two strings per roller

Like this one

The high E won't stay in the groove when bending

Thinking about an LSR
Should mount on the same shelf
Had to cut the fretboard back 3mm to set the break angle for the WD nut.
The LSR has a similar offset

The one pictured above would cover the cutout entirely
Curious

Re: "Extreme Shaped Guitars" Talk And Recommendations

It's not the rollers that are the problem
The string slots are too shallow for the high E

Sorry for the late reply, guys.

No you can't get that nut anywhere. It's definitely NOT Graph Tech nor Earvana. It's my own design compensated nut (way better than Earvana or anything else on the market. I tried them, and was not quite satisfied with them, before I started making them. I make them out of bone. This one drops right into a Strat, but I make them for Gibson types as well. I also make a 1/4" wide nut for Strat that I like better than this one, but requires the slot to be widened which means you can't go back to a standard Strat nut (which is actually OK since you wouldn't ever want to go back after using a compensated nut).

My build that I posted curves top-to-bottom, like your Brian Moore. But mine also curves neck-to-tail as well. You can kinda see it in the first pic if you look at the relationship of the body to the fretboard.

Re: "Extreme Shaped Guitars" Talk And Recommendations

I see! It is a very subtle thing that makes the guitar much easier to hold.

I need to delete some to get back under the bandwidth for free usage. I still haven't given them one cent ever! lol
