Fat Strat Pup reccommendations

Whats goin on i recently bought a pearly gates humbucker for the bridge for my fat strat. It sounds incredible, and now i'm thinking about upgrading the stock single coils, tho they don't that bad; i still think they sound just plain muddy and thin on the lows. I know they're just single coils but i'm wondering if any of you guys have a fat strat with a pearly gates (ie-lonestar strat) and have upgraded the single coils. I'm wondering if i should upgrade the neck and middle or just the neck. The middle sounds thin when the selector switch combines the other two with it tho. I'm looking for a hotter than vintage, pretty high output single coil, perhaps a stacked or rails. Any knowledge of what complements the pearly gates would be appreciated. Thanks

I have been looking at those Quarter Pounders for my Strat. One thing though is that you might consider just making it an HH Strat. If you have the routing for a neck humbucker, I think you could have so much more tonal options. I think it's much easier to find an impressive humbucker than single coil these days.

Fender Texas specials make a good pearly gates match in a true single coil and are what spring to mind first. Of course, what you choose depends on what style of music you want to use the axe for, and what amp you use. It may be that a two humbucker (double fat strat) may be a better configuration for some styles. Noiseless single coils just don't have the open high end of a true single to me, so never really sound enough like a strat. If you aren't looking for a strat sound, there are plenty of tasty flavours to be had in humbuckers.

surfers would be a great bet. I put a set in my strat with a low-9k custom humbucker and they do just about anything you can ask of them. One thing I like is that they really seem to pick up (pardon the pun) on what you are trying to do, i.e. smooth leads under gain sound smooth, funk chords and single note work have fantastic bite, and strummed chords are sweet and 3-d. With the right technique, you can literally get any strat sound you want to out of them. I don't really understand how they can be so versatile, but they seem to pull through very nicely. As for the bridge pickup, it's not really that similar to a pearly gates, it's actually closer to the VHPAF that Dimarzio makes (that's what I asked for, a VHPAF with slightly mismatched coils, heavy scatter, and unpotted), but they should blend fantastically well with an 8k-ish bucker. But then again, just my .02

(p.s. I like the strat neck sound more than any neck humbucker I've come across, but that's just me)
