Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

I voted for something else...
And that something else is the Dime.
I just love its huge, thick crunch tone. Nothing else comes close to it.
It's everything I ever wanted in a bridge pickup. It has great bass and awesome dynamics, and cleans up well, too!

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

I've had an Invader (hated it), Screamin' Demon (liked it) and a DiMarzio Super Distortion (love it). But I'd have to say may fave is the Ibanez Super 80's that came stock on my 1979 Iceman. Btw, I'm looking for any info/catalog scans for Super 80's.

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

Nothing that I've heard can even touch my Seth Lover in the bridge . . . sooo good for leads and so clear/clean/articulate . . .

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

Within the limitations of what I've experienced . . . the JB is the one!

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

I must be demented . . . I always think of JB as a drink. :laugh2:

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

Hmmmm, well, I guess this is way out there, but......

Phat Cat

Gotta love that edgy, articulate, in your face sound! Soon to match one up with a Seth or AP2 neck :D

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

DiMarzio Breed for my swamp ash.

Kent Armstrong humbucker sized P-90's for my godson's Ibanez Artcore.

Duncan '59's and JB for my korina.

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

Custom 5, Gearjoneser was right all along!

This pickup is the ultimate cross breed between vintage and modern. It has a great roar under high gain and cleans up pretty good. Very versatile!

BTW. For leads, the JB can't be beaten!

I like the Air Zone by DiMarzio the most. It sounds great in my ash Strat. It's clean and very smooth, bright but quite deep and fat at the same time in my guitar. Playing it through a V-Stack BHM I've finally found my personal lead sound. No matter which amp's clean channel I play at a gig or rehearsal, my sound can be easily recognized. And that's what I've been looking for.

how are the cleans on that pup?

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

i preffer dimebucker man that thing rips when im playing and combined wiht both amp overdrive and zakk wylde overdrive pedal it screams hell. the dime bucker is the best bridge pickup it kicks ass and takes no names

Re: Favorite Bridge Pickup?

I like the vintage PAF A-5 and A-2 sound, but always needed it hotter.
The Custom 5 is probably the most dead center Duncan pickup, since it surprisingly sounds great in every type of guitar I've put one in. It's THE Pickup for someone who jumps between clean, midgain, and highgain frequently, since it has a more pleasant clean voice than most, and the tight percussive lows, neutral mids, and vintage highs makes it stay powerful and articulate under extreme gain.

The Custom Custom is the A-2 PAF lover's answer for a hotter pickup. It has it's accentuation in the lower mids, whereas the C-5 is highs and lows, and the JB is all about thick upper mids. Lower mids means more growl and chewiness under your fingers, slightly compressed highs, and warm soft lows.....not quite as percussive as the C-5.

The JB sounds best in bolt-on guitars that tend to sound hollow. It's also the best pickup for thick sounding higher notes....perfect for the guitar you track all your guitar solos with.

I like those 3, in that order.

Blues Trembucker. Got one in two of my guitars. NICE tone!

Thats what I want to try next. But that requires another guitar. :yell:
