Favorite guitar and guitar company?

I used to be a Jackson fan boy until they decided to be a boutique builder. A soloist is NOT a 2700 dollar guitar. I have owned two and at best 1500. Also liked ESP untill they pulled the E 2 garbage.

If I had a favorite anymore I suppose it would be Warmoth. You only pay a few bucks for someone to run a CNC machine not thousands like the big companies.

Yeah, I didn't mention my Acoustic preference ...... but deal with this haters (I used to live in Nashville, and it was so popular for hipsters to put them down to try to be old school Nashville)

Taylor is the best Acoustic MFG -and it's not close in my mind. -from there 114 all the way to their 914. It's all just astounding -apples to apples to other brands on average -Don't get me wrong, there are other great brands, and most brands have some guitars that can sit side by side with a Taylor -but no other company has the quality, performance and sound top to bottom of their line like Taylor.

Some of their guitars may be a little too bright for me, but they have ones in each range that mellower -you have to try different materials and shapes in that line.

-AND remember these are brand new guitars -they mellow heavily (tonally speaking) in the first 5 years. I love went people tell me Taylors are too bright and they play a 30 year old acoustic and expect something else

also, they all play better than others on average -they are often like an electric guitar in my hand.

I have a Taylor 516 fall-somethingorother and it’s a spectacular guitar.

A friend of mine is sponsored by Martin and he came by my house a month or so ago with 3 of them. I will say that all 3 were amazing instruments.

That is a beauty for sure! Nice get!!

I have a very nice Martin D-28 aged with VTS blah blah blah. Beautiful guitar that plays nicely. I was torn between it and the many Taylors. I got a great deal on it and that is why I went with it as I didn't want all the foo foo of the high end Taylor and didn't want to wait to order. To me, Martin is like that diamond of a Les Paul you find that is right as rain compared to many other that are ok or lousy in comparison. Every Taylor I have picked up played and felt great but may not have sounded like I wanted. I really want the Taylor 522 (I think) that is all mahogany, no electronics and no cutaway and is a 12 fret. The little GS mini is a cool guitar for the buck as well. My friend has one that is out of this world good. I have tried for a few years to find one as good as his and have failed to do so. I bet I have played 75 different guitars at the various stores I have been to and nothing has come close to his. Taylor is predictably good, they have it dialed in for sure!

Vintage Kramer and Newer Charvel San Dimas/SoCal for me...

I’ve only played one Charvel Pro Mod, but if all my guitars disappeared, and someone said I was only allowed to own Pro Mods from then on, I could definitely live with it.

I’ve not played an ESP/ LTD, but provided I liked the necks, I’m sure I could get by on Snapper and Eclipse models.

Well I've got a favorite guitar to play, and a favorite guitar to look at, and a favorite guitar for it's sound....

I really love certain guitars by Gibson, Jackson, Epiphone, Dean, so I'll say they're my favorite.

But no single favorite.

I have had different guitars over the years: Gibson, fender, Ibanez, epiphone, prs, vgs, Yamaha, schecter. But when I need to put my fingers on one of those, I choose always my Gibson les paul standard. It is the guitar for me. But I think the best manufacturer is actually prs

I would like to add -of the major Guitar companies -PRS, Yamaha and Taylor are the 3 companies that have the QC in place to ensure a quality end product in the market every time or at least avoid the misses that make it in the stores from other brands.

Also, especially Bogan, this demonstrates a measure of maturity for me -as I cannot stand PRS guitars for no better reason than extreme distaste for the 3 musical styles that made them a household guitar brand (NU Metal, Alternativeish Butt Rock, and Mega Church Christian Rock) sorry it's my cross to bear and I'm working on it -but I concede they are a very high quality brand to by admired.

I’ve had gas for a Pro Mod for a long time...

Is Pro Mod MIJ? Cause my experience with it was a bad one, it's piece of crap, really. Fret ends protruding and the worst: The neck bows downward (too much relief) like forever despite the amount of adjustments I had put in. Mine was So Cal, red with black pickguard and Dimarzios. It was a gorgeous guitar with ATA approved case but it was a disaster. I traded it with an FGN and have not missed it a bit.

ProMod are the ones made in the Fender factory in Mexico. They come with Duncans. For the last 5 or so years anyway. They have the trust rod adjustment at the body-end of the neck, after the last fret.
