Re: Favorite Speakers

These days I like Greenbacks (10s and 12s) and Hellatone 30s, which are slightly broken in G12H30s, by Avatar. I really like the break up, and what I call the classic English blues and rock tone. I also use Eminence Red Coat Pvt Jacks, which are a 50 GBish clone. See a pattern here? :)

Obviously, different tonal pursuits will call for different speakers than what I use!

Re: Favorite Speakers

None of the above. Eminence ToneSpotter in the recording cab. Its flexible enough to work well with a variety of amps. I use Scumback M75's in the live cabs

Re: Favorite Speakers

eminence texas heats.

i considered using 1 texas heat with 1 swamp thang though.

Re: Favorite Speakers

Title says it all. If your choice isn't listed or you prefer a combination of speakers feel free to comment your favorite.

I really like the combo of Celestion CL80s with Vintage 30s. Vintage 30s alone can be a little nasal, the Classic Leads kinda tame that nasal sound while the Vintage 30s add a little more presence.

Re: Favorite Speakers

for what i do: Cleans/crunch go to G1265's, and G12h30's. For my gainy lower tuned stuff i dig v30's, or the WGS Veteran 30

Re: Favorite Speakers

My ears are used to Celestion Vintage 30's, just because they seem to have come in almost everything I buy.
Also really like Celestion H30's.

The Eminence Patriot Swamp Thang is one of the greatest speakers ever. It seems slightly shifted in the bass direction, so it allows you to pull more treble out of your amp's controls without getting shrill. Nice piano string sounding low E too. I think SRV would have liked the Swamp Thang, and several others in the Patriot line.

Re: Favorite Speakers

I'm currently running a pair of Swamp Thangs & a pair of Texas Heats in an X pattern in my main cab. I like them, but I'd like them better if there were just a little more mids. Which is why I'm considering trying a pair of Wizards in place of the Texas Heats.

Re: Favorite Speakers

I just got my cab home, but Eminence Legends V12 are much better than the old v30's for my xxx. Wonder how my Engl Screamer sounds with them. Why do I get these ideas at midnight?

Re: Favorite Speakers

Although they aren't part of this poll, I'm really loving the WGS Green Beret's I've been using. If not them, I would have gone for Eminence

Re: Favorite Speakers

I love Eminence speakers . I have Rajun Cajuns in my Fender Frontman 25R and Fender Champion 30 combos, and am seriously considering getting the Texas Heat 12" 150 watt speaker for my 1988 Fender Studio 85 amp. I've heard nothing but good things about that speaker.
The Legends are damn good speakers. I learned how damn good they are when I tried to replace them with 5150 speakers which I hated. When I put the Legends back in , everything came right in. I was in heaven.

The clarity and warmth of them are something to hold in high regard.

Re: Favorite Speakers

C. Rex paired with V30. The C. Rex mellows out the harshness of the V30, the V30 angries up the mellow of the C. Rex.

Re: Favorite Speakers

I use vintage 30's in my 12 inch speaker cabs but only closed back cabs. I dont like the way they sound in open cabs or partially open cabs.
